How many Sheffield Forum users does it take to change a lightbulb?

1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed.

14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently.

7 to warn about the dangers of changing light bulbs.

8 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs.

5 to make weak jokes about light bulbs.

6 to argue over whether the term is "lightbulb" or "light bulb"...another 6 to condemn those 6 as anally-retentive

2 industry professionals to inform the forum that the proper term is "lamp".

3 to advertise their “light bulb changing” business.

1 to relate a surreal story about a former 80s pop star changing a light bulb. ;)

15 know-it-alls who claim *they* were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct.

15 to contact the mods complaining about people trolling the thread.

5 to post that threads about light bulbs are not “Sheffield specific” and to please take this discussion to the “general discussions” forum

11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that the light bulb concerned is in Sheffield and therefore the thread *is* relevant to “Sheffield Discussions”.

26 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique, and what brands are faulty.

2 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs.

4 to post that the links aren’t working and then post the corrected URL's.

3 to quote the poster above in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "I agree".

12 to post to the forum that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy.

4 to suggest that posters read the Sheffield Forum FAQ.

1 to ask what’s an "FAQ".

4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"

3 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs".

don't forget the half a dozen or so mods - to check the posts for bad language and abusive content.

And another to say that that was very funny but URLs doesn't have an apostrophe (or maybe I should be one of those who checks grammar).

Can we have a poll to see if the light bulb needed changing please ?

None...we can all bask in the glow of the wit and wisdom of our users. :)

Either that or someone will say it's a job for the site owner and ask him to do it. :)

Basil, you give me more laughs than most allegedly professional comics. And I'm naturally rather prone to melancholy....

Excellent... oh god which one am I? :help:

Probably the one who says the lightbulb is much more good looking than previous lightbulbs.

You missed out the gay squad making our usual appearance to insist on equal rights for LGBT lightbulbs.

Or to wonder what will happen to all the lightbulbs in Fuel now it has closed?

Best - Basil - Thread - Ever

But you forgot the 8 forummers saying that there would be more lightbulbs to go round if it wasn't for the immigrants and they had heard someone's butcher's cousin say they heard in a pub that asylum seekers were getting special superdooper lightbulbs free on the NHS.

Can cycling forumites ignore the lightbulb if it's red?

Don't forget the one who'd tell you that light bulbs should really be starched and ironed

I know somebody who lives up there and i'm getting worried.

And the four forummers who exchange repeated double-entendres about lightbulbs in a long series of posts late every evening

What about the PC forumers who question why the lightbulb should change, why can't all SF forumers just accept the lightbulb as it is??

No one has actually asked if the lamp was actually plugged into the mains....could it be that this is the problem and nothing at all to do with the bulb needing changing.:suspect: (Just a thought):hihi:

Thread resurrected purely to annoy Ron Burgundy, who's just started a near identical thread (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=463644). Ner ner nernerner! :P

Missed it the first time 'round, but I guess that makes you the lurker then ;)

 (I demand a real 'test' thread be posted, as proof :D)

On the basis of recent SF behaviour, I'd also volunteer-
1 to comment about lightbulb/light bulb/lamp hue
1 to take umbrage about the hue claimed as off-white
25 to derail the thread along the now-usual "I'm not racist but..." slugfest
