"Frying Tonight!" :hihi:

"Carry On Up The Khyber" is pure genius, and I still love "Carry On Camping". The latter's a rite of passage for every growing boy.

I have all but Columbus on DVD (and will never own it even for competions sake). I love the Carry On series, with Cleo and Sergeant being 2 of my faves.

My favourite is the very first one, "Carry On Sergeant",

It actually had a storyline, a plot, and good acting (Particularly compared to the later ones)

I also found the premise in the storlyine touching.

My favourite bit in the film, was the scene in the tutorial room, where William Hartnell 's sergeant (yes William 'Dr Who' Hartnell played the sergeant!) is teaching the squaddies how to strip-down, clean and reassemble their guns.

He notices that Bob Monkhouse's Character is daydreaming.

He demands that BM come and do the stripping and reassembling of the gun. BM does it impeccably, and perfectly.

WH is astounded, at BM's adeptness... That is, till BM admits that he could do it, simply because he worked in the factory that manufactures the gun.

Oh PT, you have SO missed the point!

Cleo, Camping, Khyber and... just to remind us why the 70's were rubbish... At Your Convenience!!!

 I know, I know!

I have to say, of the later ones, I cannot decide which was the most dire:- follow that camel, (although I loved the last scenes at the fort, the leigionnaire having to run back and keep winding up the gramophone of the sound effects) carry on girls, (just an excuse to flash the boobs of "totty", IMO, or emmanuelle... (what can I say?)

I did like Cleo, I have to say. Amanda Barrie certainly was pretty in that film. and yes, definitely, the best line ever, was, indeed "Infamy! Infamy!"

Camping has got to be the best. I love Mr Fiddler - 'oh I see you've got a washing line...that'll be a pound'. Charles Hawtry, sharing the tent with Terry Scott, and Terry Scott going to the farm for milk on his bike, ...'I came by this way for some last year'....or something like that. Classic.

There is no other set of islands than the British and Irish Isles to create such campery. Our general prudishness if nothing else sets us apart.

Either that, or we actually like to have a little bit of the "Bike shed" humour too!
