i like all his songs, ive still got his lps he made and also ive met him many times through my mate then g/f and now wife she baby sat for him and his wife and later on i bumped into him in spain when i was visting my son who lives over there, his german music is good but some are not well classic christie but thats what they like, also my friends who live in germany say hes massive over there, the last time i saw him live performing was in the costa del sol near marbella and well hes still got it for me,in uk i saw him live at blackpool at the queens hotel, that was just before he left for europe due to no work in uk,a very nice guy very polite and still packing them in.

I think he said Hilsborough in the interview (above) and he had a pub there that died after 11 months.
It's interetsing that a lot of fans thought so. He has been so active in Germany all the time and a lot of fans only ''found'' him again with the internet boom. He has made so many Cds over the years.

My dad was good friends with TC back when I was a boy (he lived near Endcliffe Park by the way) and they were partners in the Hillsborough pub / nightclub (Christies) before it died.

I remember him being a nice guy, but don't think anyone in the family has had any contact for years.

Used to see Tony often when I lived in the Nethergreen area, he drove a big Rolls-Royce reg no. TON 10 I think it was. reckon his house was near the back of Endcliffe Park. Not my cuppa tea but a great voice anyway. Bill

In one of his newsletters we could read that he was fined the sum of 10 pounds because there was not enough space between TON and 10.;)

In the late 70's he used to frequent the Nottingham House in Broomhill (the landlord, Mick Doughty, lost a packet investing in Christies nightclub) - the only Jukebox in Sheffield with his songs on according to the locals..................how did it go..................................."Show me the way to hammer brillo".......

I remember he used to bring in a tin of buns on a Sunday for some of his friends. Mick ended up at a pub in Handsworth, don't know if he's still there.

Pass on our regards from the carol singers of old Broomhill circa late 70s early 80s.

I agree with you, just a pity he isn't coming to Sheffield on his forthcoming tour of the UK. I would have thought someone would have remembered to include it knowing of his roots in this area. Maybe someone will read this and include it. By the way I do believe he is singing on Calendar on Monday night and also on Look North Wednesday, I think.

He hasn't been out of the limelight that long. I remember about 4 years ago he was on top of the pops singing "walk like a panther" with The All Seeing I.
