For a while now I've been getting really annoying pop-ups that my pop-up programme wasn't catching. They were pop-ups advertising a site called byebyeads.com which would get rid of them for you. Sounded a bit like extortion to me!

Eventually I did a google search and found this
http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=11&t=1920&
which is a site full of techies telling you how to get rid of it.

Judging by that, loads of people have been getting them, so thought I'd share it here in case people here are having the same problem. I followed the instructions for disabing Windows Messenger and touch wood haven't had another pop-up so hopefully it's sorted.

Hope it helps someone anyway!

Emma

I use popup-stopper. It is THE best on the market IMHO and the opinion of my mates too. Nothing gets past that sucker, unless I want it too!

Whats more, it's free!

Mozilla Firebird (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firebird/why/) is a good choice of browser should you want to eliminate annoyance from your surfing.

Out of interest, are we talking about HTML popups on websites, those Windows Messenger popups or both?
