Spike

I can think of a number of fund raising ideas. As you're all chefs, why don't you make a stack of goodies (cakes, pies, biscuits?) etc and sell them. Or have a raffle and the winner gets a gourmet meal cooked in their homes by youselves.
Or hold a fundraising event, like a ceildih or barn dance.
It might be worth asking local food shops and restuarants for sponsorship.
Will post again if I have any other ideas.

Football aside Spike.
Do you have a venue you could use for sponsored events?
I was thinking of a 24hr sponsored darts match, we did one years ago in our local to support guide dogs.

have you thought about having a sponsored head-shave or some thing similar?

or example...

a bloke, with really long hair-and big-beard will go down really well, if he has the lot shaved off!!! (A bus driver did that aboaut six or seven years ago, to raise finds for a little boy who was disabled, and needed some special equipment.) That sort of "charity Stunt" tends to be a big-draw.

I am planning to hold a sponsored event, the proceeds of which will be split, 50/50, for the Tsunami appeal, and the disability charity I work for.

Could you provide a lunch for staff at your college, and charge them a fee that would allow you to make a (fair) profit? My mum teaches hospitality and catering, and recently they held a similar event to raise money for equipment etc. They held the lunch in one of the larger classrooms and set all the tables up nicely with flowers etc, and offered a set two course menu (veg and meat options). It was a huge success and a nice change from the canteen for the staff too. In fact they are now thinking about making it a regular thing and keeping the profits for the sort of educational trips you mention in your first post. Good luck!

My mum teaches in South West London, her name is Jacqueline Parks. She sets some of the catering exam stuff so I guess you might have heard her name. The lunch thing does work very well so good luck with it, its also good experience for your CV as a trainee chef (its pretty much the same as organising food in a small restaurant). Alternatively the idea that someone else posted here earlier, about baking stuff and selling it, is a good one. What about advertising ready made meals in the staff room? You can provide them frozen for staff to take home.

Mod: A lousy thread, continuously bumped, with nothing added by certain regular offenders who have been warned (and banned) previously.

Closing.
