View Full Version : Army Equipment Shop in Sheffield?
Hi,
Looking for an army shop in Sheffield to get some kit from (sleeping bag, boots, mosquito net, desert clothing etc).
Anybody know of any decent places? I know there is a stall on the Moor, but I could do with a place where I can try the stuff on.
Thanks in advance,
Gaz
There's a place on London Road [on left as you head out of town, past the Cremorne pub] that seems to sell that kind of stuff.

Yeah, Jay Jays - opposite the Vietnamese Noodle Bar place on London Road.
If they dont have what you need, try taking a drive out to Anchor Supplies in Ripley for a huge selection of demobbed stuff in a large warehouse. Tents, engine parts, torches, clothes, tools, everything.
They sell tanks and stuff too!

There used to be an army supluss warehouse down near Kelham Island, I don't know if it's still there.

WallBuilder 07-01-2005, 15:03 I was living for two years literally yards from Anchor Army Surplus and just loved the place. Bought all sorts of bits and pieces from there including the majority of my tools and was very tempted by the radar system they were once flogging.
There was an army surplus shop at Darnall by the main crossroads but it has been a few years since I was last in that area.

That one closed a couple of years ago :(
There is a guy who has a stall at the bottom of the Moor that sells all that kinda gear.. Can't remember what days he is there!
Sorry!
There is usually at least one person in Chesterfield Market on "junk market" day, i think it's Thursday.

He does a good price compared to Jay Jays, but he is unreliable about turning up. Should have been there yesterday - I wanted some boots of him. Not there :(
Hi all,
Thanks for all the responses. I went to JJ's at the weekend but didn't find what I was looking for.
Running short of time (about 10 days left), so does anyone know any good, reliable army store websites?
Price isn't an issue, but delivery time and reliability are very important!

price better not be an issue, 'cos they're expensive, but good.

It's a strange place that, sometimes it's there and sometimes not.
I heartily recommend JayJays on London.
Don_Kiddick 11-01-2005, 05:19 Go on ebay.
search by seller:
look up sfrankish
he's in Heydon Bridge area.
look up jeepandtrailer
he's in Barnsley:thumbsup:
Also jessapuss
in Shropshire. I've used all 3 & am satisfied with them.
Maybe sfrankish, being fairly local, may be able to fix you up with a visit?
Hope this helps

I got a realy cool wooden hand grenade case from there to keep my playstation games in, the people on the bus looked a bit worried when I dropped it in the luggage rack as I got on :)
Yesterday I found LOADS of good sites for Desert boots etc on.. but today they've disappeared! The other equipment I've got, but struggling to find a good pai of desert boots that provide ankle support and give good ventilation (looking at spending over £60).
Oh well.. I'll have to hit the desert in a pair of Nike Air's :)
NatalieSheff 11-01-2005, 13:19 there is a place near effingham rd in sheffield near that stupid one lane bridge

Do you not have access to a car?
Because if you do, head out to Anchor Supplies and it will answer all your prayers.
Managed to get most of my stuff from The Bunker Direct (http://www.thebunkerdirect.com) and also ordered a top quality bag, 137L capacity :D
Can see the bag here (http://www.thenorthface.com/opencms/opencms/tnf/gear.jsp?productId=279)
AJCrowley 12-01-2005, 09:07 the one in darnall has been to let for ages

If you can tell us a bit more about the mission you are going on then perhaps we can find a shop specialising in the right sort of equipment.
For example, is it going to be an undercover operation requiring cunning disguises, shoes with hidden transmitter and cyanide tablets or is it more your full beach assault type mission requiring an amphibious vehicle, armour piercing bazooka's and full air support?
I just want to make sure my advice is as relevant as possible before answering.
Any need for the sarcasm? There's always one
Let's just say I'm spending 6 months in "warmer climates".
CaptainSleep 12-01-2005, 10:53 Just out of interest how much does it cost to buy a tank?

Anchor have an Alvis Saracen for about £5000 I think.
Lovely to drive (Rolls Royce engine), great family vehicle (seats about 8 people), really safe (fully armoured and mine protected), if a little on the big side...
Visibility is not as great as you'd find on most modern cars (general lack of windows) but with your other half as commander sat in the turret, you'd be fine reversing it in Tesco car park.

Okay, so it's not technically a tank. But driving a tank around would be silly.

Me? Sarcastic? You should try living with me!
By the way, that's a figure of speach and not an invitation for a homosexual cohabitation... I know what you boys who like to dress up as soldiers are like. ;)

I'll second that, I've been out everyday since last week and he was only there once but I didn't have my kitlist with me! Been again today and he isn't there again, typical!

Try Chesterfield market today, there used to be a guy who sold army stuff on Thursdays, his stall was at the bottom near Boots.
