I have been contacted by a lovley lady who has a dog she needs rehoming.
She lost her dog a few weeks ago so went to the sheffield council pound to look for a new friend. This is where they saw Bear, a 8 month old, male, Akita X Gsd. They wernt allowed to take him for a walk and they asked if he could be held for them while they went home and had a think about him, but they were told that they couldnt hold him and if they were interested they would need to pay for him and take him. they asked no questions about the family/home, and no home check was done.
So they took the dog home and the lady started to read up on the breeds. She hasnt owned a large breed before, so called someone for advice, this person advised that the breeding was all wrong, and that the dog would never amount to anything and should have been put down at birth, and would more than likely turn out to be very agressive. This has made the lady very wary, Bear has done nothing wrong at all, he knows simple commands and has some recall when there are no distractions. he has shown no agression and will sit and wait for his food and give paw before he eats!
This lady feels like she was pushed into getting this dog and was very ill informed and feels all parties would be better off by rehoming Bear to someone who knows what they are taking on. Bears past history is that he was bought by some one who had 2 other pups of different breeds and also had a young toddler, He now lives with teenagers. He has got manners so should be an asset to any family.
