Sponge with a mixture of bicarbonate of soda and water. (sometimes I just pour a pint directly on to the patch of carpet) I've been using this method for years........ little s**s:)

surgical spirit. put some in a spray bottle and spray it on the area after you have scrubbed it with washing powder solution.
you can get it from the chemist.
works very good:thumbsup:

We always used 'Zaflora' available at most supermarkets. Always did the trick.

Sponge with a mixture of bicarbonate of soda and water.

Yes, this is what I did following an incident... I used biological powder disolved in water with some Zoflora and cleaned really well. Then made a paste of bicarb and water and put it on the stinky area (and more) waited for it to dry then vaccummed the bicarb off. Worked very well.

Safe4 make a fab smell remover, but it helps to know what species and surface you need to clean because a chemical odour killer is only part of the solution. I'd also recommend biological washing powder and a steam cleaner before using an odour killer- but that again depends on the surface that's been weed on.

www.e-k9.co.uk

The odour killer works by neutralising the odour - not masking over it.

However, I would say that the carpet and underlay may be soaked in it, and may need to be cleaned thoroughly.

Both of the products on there work, and used by most of the leading kennels and catteries for just that.

A mixture of 3 parts water to 1 part white vinegar will neutralise the ammonia. try it in a spray bottle, or if the smell is really strong just pour it on.
I've found it to be the cheapest and most effective method.

Anything that doesn't contain glycerine or ammonia!!! Although it may get rid of the smell to our noses it won't get rid of the scent for the furries.

Bicarb, surgical spirit, vinigar, all good stuff. If an area has been "soaked" then you may need to clean the area with any of the above and treat with a product you can get from the vet which will deter them. Cant remember what it is called. "Cat off" rings a bell but only available from the vet so might not be the right name.

I wonder if you mean Urine Off? You can buy it online. It's a bit pricey but good stuff.

Invest in a steamer- an effective chemical free way of eradicating pet odours.

Thanks for this link- it's a great offer and I'll be putting my order in after payday this month. I've used the disinfectant before and we bought some Safe4Pets hand sanitiser and the odour killer and it smells gorgeous (and the odour killer is very effective at reducing cat litter odours - having Ashia, her 3 babies and thier aunty Amber downstairs in the living room 24/7 can get pretty wiffy after feeding time!)

I love the smell of Jeyes but it's not very pet friendly. I buy a similar product from www.hyperdrug.com That looks and smells very similar but is safe for pets. I've always bought it in a huge 5litre tin before but can only find the 1litre version here http://www.hyperdrug.co.uk/prodinfo.asp?number=BLACK1000

Good to get some advice my house is starting to smell like a litter tray it is minging. I have just been out and got vinegar although to date have been cutting corners out of the carpets . We moved about 2 months ago I thought this behaviour might have settled down by now does anyone have any advice of the approach to use (with cats) to help combat this. I love to leave my doors open in the house and have been conciously closing rooms off recently to yry and reduce the carpets being removed. Any advice we be great :|
