A rare sight indeed, is there by slim chance a red telephone box still standing anywhere in Sheffield? Or indeed nearby?

Surely BT missed one!

The hunt is on...

Out of curiosity I went on a Dogpile search of red phone boxes and came up with www.englishphoneboxes.com

Apparantly, BT are refurbishing them and selling them off to foreigners. A Dutch guy has a red phone box at his home in Holland. The web site even has a gallery of photos.
Ha, its hillarious. Foreigners will buy anything British?

I cycle through a village called Dungworth near Dam flask and there is still a red phone box there.

There's still a red box on Meadowhead, outside the Yorkshire Windows shop.

Quite surprising, since every other one in the area was replaced years ago.

There's one in the Firth Park / Wincobank / Shiregreen area, at the junction of Windmill Lane and (what I think is) Wharncliffe Road.

Err...it's Bevercotes Road. The Wharncliffe is the pub

Yeah, there is a REALLY old one on Gosforth Lane/Netherdene Road in Dronfield. Still untouched and still working I believe. You can't miss it, left hand side going up the hill before the conifer bushes.

There's one in Brampton which is near the M1/M18 junction just to the east of sheffield - it's a listed building I believe! See http://www.j31.co.uk/brampst.htm for a photo.

As a related point, when BT were first removing red telephone boxes (in the late eighties I think), the London Borough of Hackney listed all their red telephone boxes to prevent them being removed. Hackney is now the only place in London which still has lots of red phone boxes.

That would be apart from Sheffield where we just have spotted about 20, right?
