I know that everyone has a secret TV show that they think has been injusticed : here's mine :)

Did they boot Rochard O'Brien off? WHY!? I honestly think he's dead funny. And why did they stop making this show.. I think if it had kept up with the times it could still be really good..

Do you think a new series would still hold peoples attentions?

Was never bothered about the presenter, he was odd at the best of times :suspect:

I used to watch it so I could try and work the puzzles out

They didn't "boot" him off, he left due to other work that he was involved with.

The new presenter sucked, Ed Tudor Pole, ewwww, ick, bring back Precocious Rick, he had all the charm and sofistication that the show required, a true showman.

I agree though, if they had kept it going, it might have still been going strong even now, there is no decent game shows anymore, I still miss Treasure Hunt and Interceptor, heh, and I doubt anyone remembers The Adventure Game.

I do,and I used to love it!!

But I cannot remember the name they had for the money.I can remember that they were shaped a bit like the old Greek Drachma with the hole in the middle!!

But just where did they disappear to in the 'Vortex'?

Remember the backwards speaking guy "doog yrev", lol.

and how about the plant that was the king and you had to give him a present that he liked.

The game with the money where you had to work out how many Dronga's was on the table was simple, it was fingers, not money, so you had to look at the mans hand and how many fingers he had on the table.

Gronda! Gronda!

From : tv.cream.org.... the Adventure Game:

WHAT NOW GET OUT OF THAT (qv) was to BBC1 evenings, THE ADVENTURE GAME was to BBC2 teatime.

Basically, an alien-planet-set game show, where a team of three comprising child-friendly celebs (FRED HARRIS, DEREK GRIFFITHS, MAGGIE PHILBIN. you know the score) and affable boffin-types (IAN "MICRO LIVE" MACNAUGHT-DAVIS, world Rubik Cube champ DAVID SINGMASTER) are 'kidnapped' and forced to work their way through impenetrable series of logic games by human-impersonating aliens (including Moira Stuart at one point).

But it wasn't a simple as that. Wildcards included the Drogna Game (NOT the title of the actual programme, as many still seem to think), involving logic-stepping-stone floorplan and geometrically-themed plastic 'local currency' of the "Red Salamander" (the only alien available to ask about the currency was usually mute, and merely pointed to a sign saying "Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain").

Purists reject such later additions to the mix as the strangely pointless banter between the 'aliens' about "grandad turning into an aspidistra", green cheese rolls, and moles, or something; LESLEY JUDD as a two-timing alien saboteur; backwards-talking aussie bushwacker BILL HOMEWOOD, aka Ron Gad; and a bizarre version of tag against an invisible vortex on a gantry suspended in space to guarantee their safe return to 'Earth'. Which is being a bit harsh, even for us.

The bizarre "charm" was maintained pretty well throughout the entire run, bolstered immeasurably when there was someone of the calibre of Derek Griffiths or Johnny Ball to play off.
All alien names were derived from 'dragon' - Arg (The planet), Drogna, Gronda (traditional salute), Rangdo (the aspidistra-like "uncle"), Dogran (little BBC Buggy-derived thing, notionally controlled by Fred or whoever (always one of the blokes in the team) via a state-of-the-art BBC micro around a pitch black maze), Gnoard (Charmian Gradwell) doing an admittedly rather dull non-live phone-in segment. Suffice to say, if you never saw it, you missed a minor gem.

And Keith Chegwin always got evaporated.

I think it was called 'Cyberzone'.
If your memory is hazey I'd try and leave it that way.
As I recall it it was a complete pile of pants.

Aww I remember the Adventure Game, I soo wish I could watch that again so I can relive what it was. I bet I wouldn't feel the same now though.
My fav was Wanted which was on around 1995ish on Ch4 I think. I really wanted to be on it. I was hooked, why did it get axed, the viewing figures were pretty good?

Nah, the colours had a value of 1-5 and the shapes had sides of 1-5. Multiply the colour by the sides and hey presto!

Unfortunately you are incorrect, it was not Bryon Brown, I found this out by checking out a website dedicated to Game Shows, they have loads of trivia, I shall try and get you the link if you would like.
