Hi guys,
I am trying to find out the history of the site at 722, Prince of Wales in Darnall. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what used to be there - was there anything like a factory etc and what are people's memories of that location. Also does anyone have any photos of the site in a past life or know where I could find some?
Many thanks in advance,
Ellie

There use to be some cottages in front of the Davy United firm, they use to flood when the stream overflowed. I believe a Mr and Mrs Cox lived in one of them. I am going back into the early 1900s. The son Cyril married my aunt Ena Marsh.

it used to be davys then changed to davy mckee they made big industrial machines and stuff the big building at the front was the offices and the units at the back was the works ,now divided into little units .hope this helps.
The 1927 Kellys listes houses from the railway arch up number 758 to 720 then 556 to 532 722 has a Fred Vickers weighman 1951 Harold Bunting lives there a machinist.
1972 just 712/714/716. Davy United was 718 the 1911 Kellys does not list Prince of Wales road.
[ Picture Sheffield ] shows 744 Prince of Wales rd it gives an idea of the houses in that area.built around the first world war?
Twirly My Dad Colin Theaker lived in one of the Davys cottages before he married in 1939, his Mam ( my Grandma ) was called Ada Muscroft after she remarried. I'm afraid I don't know how many years they lived there, but my sister might who still lives in England

I know that it is now an office development, does anyone know when this happened and when Davys (or the company who took over from them) moved off the site?
Cheers
