View Full Version : Regular Drum & Bass in Sheffield
Are there no regular Drum & Bass nights in Sheffield at all these days?
Sneak - I'm not sure - is it on monthly at .Zero?
Tuesday Club - Always up and down.. the club closed the big room off a few weeks back I heard
Drum & Bass Arena - not regular any more
Coalition - Havent heard anything for a while
What happened to Bassic Standards? or Jungle Juice?
Just wondering if there is something massive i'm missing out on :)
iffy
i wish you were right about something big going on,theres bugger all right now,DnB arena is good when its on,next one is begining of feb i think
metropolis vs sneak is allways good at zero
jungle juice just dissapeared didnt it?weird..
I know.. still, things'll pick up and before you know it you'll be back to the same problem of too many nights, not enough brain cells.. :)
coalition 06-01-2005, 09:34 been lying low while stuff at club all gets sorted..twas a big shame seeing as september time we were planning a rocking monthly!!! Desperate for another event so watch this space...meanwhile any ideas please dont hesitate to put em forward!
Are coalition waiting to go back to Po Na Na / Element then?
Hopefully going to be worth the wait, Its a nice club, nice size..
Apart from that, if you want my 2p on structuring nights, I think Sheffield needs a regular night, you know pushing the idea that say, Thursday night is D&B night, come wind, rain or shine.
Maybe you could go easy on the headliners and keep the price lower, then have a end of month blowout with big djs?
Anyway, good news to know that there's stuff in the pipeline :)
thursday is definately DnB day,go shopping for vinyl during the day n club at night, once me n my mates soundsystem gets going we will be putting on a montly night at the everyone centre hopefully ,drum n bass, jungle, dub, ragga etc...
this has to happen! you know there is D&B in sheffield for a full week on accasions and none for a month! sheffield needs this!
we need it become very regular again!
There is indeed regular Drum & Bass in Sheffield. Sneak is an allnighter the last Saturday of every month at .Zero. We missed out December (as the last Saturday of Dec was xmas day!) but are back Sat 29th January with an Old Skool V DnB special...
Ratpack (Old Skool set)
Jumping Jack Frost (Old V New set)
DJ Flight (DnB set)
Mark XTC (Old V New set)
MCs: Everson Allen (Ratpack - argued to be the first ever jungle MC!), Tonn Piper, Suddz & Soul
Plus our residents Prophecy, Hijinx, JDK & Stax will be tearing up the dance floor as usual!
Advance Tickets are £9 + bf from Cool Wax, Reflex, Dek One & Low Life or www.ticketline.co.uk 0161 832 1111
Next month: Feb 26th we've got Grooverider, Hype & many more...
mr.blaze 10-01-2005, 03:05 *cough* guest list?
and i've heard it is a very good night indeed, i will be attending myself from now on. but i don't know how everyone else feels, but a monthly isn't enough. i know it makes it more special when it comes around, but i just can't get enough.
does anyone know if the room (formerly fez club) has any nights free for hosting such an event?
february looks like a good one. what is the fee on the door?
does anyone know when the next D&B Arena is on? or in fact any other dates for D&B nights?
Tuesday club hasnt closed the big room, that was a one off. Still the only weekly DnB/hip hop night in sheffield. But whether the quality of the acts has gone down is open to debate. i dont think so but people are always moaning. can i hear "things have gone to comercial" or"not as good when i went there"

To be honest, I dont hear that much. Most people who I go out with love Sheffield to bits. The only reason we want more is because its so good!
Sneak : Looking forward to it! Enjoyed Sneaky last night.. but only playing four bars of The Nine was just teasing :-)
mjlacey21 10-01-2005, 14:52 the problem with tuesday club is it's on a tuesday. It's far too early in the week for how ill I feel the next day, although there's some line ups it's work it for! Drum and bass arena haven't released any Sheffield line-ups for 2005 as far as can be seen from the website, although a couple of people have suggested there might be another dry couple of months. Just our luck!
they open up a shop and **** off,******s :D
RATPACK!!?!?! **** YES!

Agent Dan 21-01-2005, 15:49 I hate the tuesday club!! It's *so* unfair for those of us who have to go to work ealry on wednesdays... expecially with a line up like the one you've listed there... sickening!! :P
I am in severe need of some drum'n'bass nights (apart from the occassional/random d'n'b arena) that I can attend without worrying about having to be home by 1!!!

Man.. you can always sacrifice feeling horrible and go out anyway..
Beware though .. I was meant to have a 'quiet' trip to Fuzz Club last night (i start work at 8.30am) and all I can remember is singing God Gave Rock n Roll To You with Snakebite spilled down my tshirt at 2.03. Man I wish I was cooler!

I used to but I'm in business, so i peformance=pay so it's best to go out less and earn more... If I felt I was capable of doing my job properly with a ...erm... hangover then I would, but you know it gets!!

@ iffypop - Glad you enjoyed Sneaky, were having a laugh doing that at the minute not having to stick to one style of music... but will always try to end on good bit of drum & bass!!
Cheers
