I used to know a girl called Ava way back in the 1970s. She was some cousin of our Indian neighbours although her name was pronounced arvar and not ayva as is the case with Myleene's bambino.

I like the name Ava, at least its not a stupid name like tinkerbell/apple or something.

i'm pleased for her - i only watched the one show for her.
i would imagine on her return she may not be all the woman she was.:hihi:

Wouldn't more suitable first names for Ms Klass' offspring be "No" or "Working"?

That was my first thought, penny... Wow,(!) A "celeb" who has given their child an "ordinary" (ish) name.

What a refreshing change!

Seen the pic of the baby, and (like all babies) I think she looks sooo gorgeous!

Ava, BTW is an alternative spelling of Eva / Eve. and I think it's a lovely name.

You learn something new every day. I still think it's silly. :)

It is, but it also has other origins/meanings.

I did wonder whether she chose Ava because of some classical pieces or something. It's very traditional sounding. I didn't know it's another name for Eva. It just reminds me of "Ava Maria".

that would be ave maria, avE being latin for "hail", (as in "Hail, Mary, the Lord is with thee...")

Yes, I thought Ava Gardner was beautiful. I also like the name Ava. Maybe it will come back in to fashion.

Just following the Yanks!

It was Number 5 in the Popularity Stakes (http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/) in the USA last year.
