I have a Video presentation, from back in 1997, called "the Sheffield Story" which has snippets of archive film, and historical anecdotes etc, mixed with more recent footage. It's fairly entertaining, lasts about an hour, maybe it's available on DVD?

It certainly should be if it's not. Who made it?

Some years ago there was a great film taken on a tramcar passing through old Sheffield ending up at the Weedon Street tram sheds.

The commentary on the film is hilarious and the views of all the shops etc on the Moor and down Attercliffe are great.

I believe the video was sold at the Telegraph and Star office on York Street.

I'm sure your Dad would love it if it is still available.

Hope this helps you.

Happy Days!

I think the Sheffield Star office used to sell a range of Sheffield films.

Why not give them a ring?

Try this...

I believe there is a volume two now, and you can get them in DVD format.
Do a search on the net, I think the company that compiles them are in Conisbrough.

No, I wasn't wanting the video, I was wanting to know where Ron Fairfax is these days. I went to Night School with him back in the late 1950s.

Hi Redfyre. did you ge hold of Ron? He's my dad. I just came across your post whilst browzing in a quiet moment at work! I've never used one of thses forums before so don't know how to contact you independently to put you in touch with dad . He lives in Hull now and is in the phone book. I'm sure he'd pleased to hear from you as an old friend.
