Wednesday have today completed the singing of 22-year-old Vitesse Arnhem winger Etienne Esajas for an undisclosed fee.

Owls boss Brian Laws has been desperate to bolster his attacking options, in partocular on the wing, following the departure of Chris Brunt to West Brom two weeks ago.

The Dutch winger arrived at Hillsborough at the start of the week for a trial with the club and has put pen to paper on a three year deal at Hillsborough, and could be available for Saturday's visit of Bristol City.

And the 22-year-old insists he can't wait to start playing his football in front of the Wednesday faithful.

'I have been with Vitesse Arnhem for two seasons and my manager called me to ask if I wanted to go on trial to England,' he told the official Wednesday website.

'I thought 'why not' because it is Sheffield Wednesday, it's a big club and I think they should be in the Premier League.'

And Owls boss Laws is confident Esajas can be a crowd favourite at Hillsborough, following in the footsteps of Jermaine Johnson who has also lit up the Owls wing since arriving from Bradford.

'I am delighted to be able to bring a player of quality from Vitesse Arnhem in Holland,' Laws told the official Owls website.

'Etienne Esajas is quick and moves the ball well, he is a very good crosser of the ball and he has impressed me immensely in training so far.'

Esajas still had a year left to run on his contract in Holland but the Owls have negotiated a fee with Vitesse and Esajas could be in the squad to face Bristol on Saturday.

Let's hope he can live up to the expectations that will no doubt be put on him :)

Lets all try not to put too much pressure on him early in his Wednesday career. We can't expect him to be the same player as Brunty, though thats not what some people would want.

Well at least the lads got ambition. Though knowing our luck we'll turn him into a good player and sell him along with his ambition to someone in the same league as we have done with Brunty. I'd rather have someone like him with career goals than someone signing for us and saying lets get a nice mid table position this year.

If you're lucky this is the highest you can hope for.

Cheers Robbie, we need it ! I've never heard of him either. Also, could someone tell Bryan Laws that we've conceded 10 goals in 3 league games (aswell as the boat load in friendlies and the cup) I know we have no Brunt now but a winger is not going to stop the leaky bucket.

He's an excellent player.

We're alright scoring goals now.

Esajas has got an excellent cross on him, Sodje is a big nasty lad who will win most of the arial challenges, nod it down to Burton/Tudgay/Jaffacakes, who will hopefully dispatch them.

I'd like to see a Sodje-Jeffers partnership. Akpo is all about the workrate and sheer determination, he grabs a lot of assists and scores goals, albeit at a lower level).
Jeffers has scored goals wherever he has been, and if fit, could form a very useful partnership with Sodj - Sodj assists, Jaffacakes buries them due to his 'fox in the box' tendencies.

Here's to hoping eh?!

Jeffers has scored goals wherever he has been,

I beg to differ (but only because I'm feeling rather pendatic tonight haha)

He never scored whilst on loan at Rangers. And goals is also a plural, so in effect when he went back to Everton, he only hit one goal (no plural)...... This plural business also works true for his time at Blackburn. again only scoring one goal (no plural lol)

He has also not scored for Wednesday either YET

Sorry, I'm just in a mood and think franny will do well if he stays fit. But this sodj that you think may do well, I can't see. I can't lay claim to seeing him a lot, maybe twice.... but nothing has ever impressed...

Sorry lads but it all seems a bit desperate to me. A Port Vale player and a bloke from overseas that nobodys heard on. Hopefully they'll be little gems. Oh he of little faith.
