Been several times trying to see what the attraction is. Couldn't though. Much prefer participation in any sport rather than watching.

What is a Sheffield Steeler? Is it another football team?

Tony Ruscoe
28-08-2003, 11:51
Nope. They play ice hockey!

Official Sheffield Steelers Ice Hockey Club website (http://www.steelersihc.co.uk)

They are ice hockey players that skate around a big ice rink!

Y not go to a match and see for yourself, you might just like it!!!!!

Does anyone know anything about the rumours that the IIHF are coming to the UK on Monday to close down the Elite Ice Hockey League (including our Steelers)? There is a strong rumour that the Elite League is refusing to pay the affiliation fee to Ice Hockey UK. What is going to happen?

What's the source for this information? :x

I hope its a good one. Coz we're all just trying to enjoy the hockey and not think too much about the politics!

It sounds like a cliche but my husband was in Scotland yesterday and heard something he shouldn't have.

Can you buy tickets for the games on the night and do you just get them from the arena box office?

Clik32
20-10-2003, 16:09
Yep, you can buy them on the night. Get them from the box office. Most match nights though, just before the game, the box office moves up to near the doors of the arena. You thinking of going?!

Hi

I'm not wanting to sound like a 'billy-no-mates' (which I'm not - honest!) but I'm on the look out for new people to go and watch the steelers with. Due to various reasons I can't go along with the crowd I used to and can't bear the thought of not seeing a game - and the season may have already started? Others I know seem to be not bothered about going or for some reason think its more fun to go and watch wednesday (lose)!

Not got a clue how this may work out or how I'll go about this but I'm a friendly 30 yr old soul who doesn't fancy going along to a game and screaming on my tod as the lads thrash notts!

Any takers?

What are the various reasons that you can't go along with the crowd you used to? Just curious- if you don't wannt answer that then don't

Fair enough question I suppose..just realised my message may have sounded a bit cryptic and probably wasn't necessary to add what I did..

Not going into details (as this would end up being a different thread..) but suffice to say when relationships break up, there tends to be one person who moves on and doesn't feel comfortable going out with a crowd of friends that includes the 'ex'. Hope that helps the curious ones among you!

12-09-2004, 10:16
Yeah - sheffield it is. I think/hope I've managed to persuade a couple of people to come along with me to the notts game later this month. They're convinced they won't enjoy it ('it's just not footie..') but so did I til I went along to a couple of games..Just hope we start winning!

If I'm ever in Pittsburg though, Buck, I'll let you know.

I didn't think I'd enjoy it when I first watched a steelers game but it's a good night out. Good atmosphere especially- minus football fans with burberry caps

Cheers,

I am a Sheffield Scimitar fan. Scimitars are the league below the Steelers but are a brilliant side to watch. They play at Ice Sheffield and are playing their first league match tonight against Swindon Wildcats.

We won Telford Tigers away last night 2-9

Adults £7.50
Children £3.00
Concessions £4.00
Family ticket £18.00

VERY GOOD value for money

Sheffield Scimitars have their own website but I cant post it as this is only my 2nd posting! So just google Sheffield Scimitars if you want to find the site.

COME DOWN AND ENJOY A CRACKING NIGHT!

Last night's game was fantastic - i'm really glad we decided to go on a spurr of the moment decision. Shame they didn't do so well tonight but they were 3 players down.

Looking forward to the rest of the season - hope we beat the panthers and show the rest of the country who watch it on sky sports extra how good the steelers really are.
