Do you own a little green family car that was parked on the end of Clarence Road, Hillsborough (almost where it meets Dykes Hall Road) yesterday lunchtime??????

I was standing waiting for a bus and heard a graunching noise, looked around and it seems that a big rusty white van (transit-ish) had hit the little green car...in fact a bit of the van fell off......it turned into Dykes Hall and as it went past - occupied by 3 young men, the middle fat lad laughing - I memorised the number. A man then approached and asked if I had got the number....he had witnessed the "accident". I wrote details onto a scrap of paper and the man added his details and the note was placed under the little green car's windscreen. I also left the piece that had fallen off the van. On inspection the damage will be costly to repair - the back wing all stuffed in and the bumper damaged, the van managed to leave behind some of the white paint where it had hit. The occupants made no attempt to leave the vehicle and assess what damage they had done.

But....no-one has contacted me and I wondered if the occupiers of the white van (though I am giving them credit here for intelligent thinking where I feel no credit is due) had returned and removed the details left for them.

If the car is yours...I have the registration number of the van if you would like to pm me.

Thanks

I'd call 101, and let them know.

I'd tell them whats written here and then its on record aswell.

The police should chase it up if you give them both registration numbers as it's leaving th e scene of an accident.

Have just done that Sal, though the registration I have given isn't showing ANY vehicle let alone a white van so it looks as though the owner may have to foot the bill for the damage after all. :(

Hmmm, no wonder they were all eager to be good citizens. :suspect::rant:

I only memorised the number of the white van....either I got it wrong or the number plate wasn't for the vehicle...either way 101 says the number is not a used number. I didn't take down the number of the green car. I was waiting for a bus.....I am just a bit perplexed that the owner of the car hasn't phoned me....I know I would have done if it was my car.

Oh well I did my bit....

Been past where the little green car was yesterday....its not there now.....can only presume that the owner likes the modified look....because no-one has been in touch.

it really annoys me, the amount of people who hit other peoples cars then drive off.

had it done to me, but luckily someone like you saw the accident, got the other drivers reg plate, and had it announce over the microphone at the supermarket.
got the police involved and the other driver had the cheek to say that i hit her, but with the witness he told the police the right story, so i was able to go through the other person insurance.

but a lot of drivers now get insurance cancel it after paying one instalment and they have the documents to prove they have got insurance

How rude! I just don't understand why people can't be honest and own up to their own mistakes!

Our car was hit by a bin lorry. We heard the big crunch and looked straight out of the window (which at 3 floors up had a good view) and my husband went outside and had a long discussion with the driver who was really apologetic and said that it was his first day as a driver. I thought that we were very calm and understanding considering it was a car that we had purchased brand new and had only had for 3 months! Details were took and it was all over with as far as we were concerned...

Roll on TWO years...

Received a letter from the solicitors of our insurers stating that the refuse collection company are denying that one of their vehicles was involved or even that the accident ever took place. They have asked us to describe what the driver looked like - after 2 years!!!

I don't know, what a farce! :(
