Hi Everyone.

In view of the current Tsunami appeal i was wondering about the possibility of hiring a club somewhere, put on some well known local DJ's and seeing if we could raise some cash?

I was thinking over New Year about how much money I spend on alchohol and socialising and thought that perhaps we could do something as a city.

I'm 24 and my current music taste is in house music so i was thinking of approaching current/former DJ's from Rise, Gatecrasher, Bed, Sunday Sessions etc to see what response we could get. If anyone is interested in letting out any venues or knows any promoters/DJ's then please can you e-mail me at SheffTsunamiAppeal@Yahoo.co.uk

This may fall flat on its feet but its worth a go i think.

Thanks,

Paul

I have also been thinking for the past few days about how I would love to see a music gig fundraising night for the tsunami relief efforts. I have only just moved to Sheffield, so I don't know my way around the music scene here or how to get such a thing organized with so few contacts. I do know of some bands who played at a Greenpeace benefit concert just before christmas at the Blind Institute. I would love to help out getting something moving, and people need help, right this very instant. If any one knows who I could contact to offer help, postering, looking into venues, contacting musicians, volunteering the night of etc...please pm me. I have a lot of spare time right now. I want to do something to help and would love to see a community coming together.

I will put up a post after the meeting about people can help. From what I can gather most of the major music venues are going to be there.

Hi,
someone could try talking to those in coolwax records to set up a night and attempt to get a decent venue, such as zero which hoplds a few people. I'm sure plenty of people will be interested but it just has to be at a fair price.

I went to a meeting last night with a load of other promoters and club owners.

What we have decided to do is do 2 weeks of fundraising gigs in Febuary all under one banner and any money raised will into one central pot to be given to disaster relief.

Some of the people and venues involved are The Leadmill, Boardwalk, the grapes, headcharge, razor stilletto, Corp, sandman, NTA, Spannered, The Hive, Yellow arch, real Promotions, car crash music and many others who I have forgotten.

We will have a website up and running by the end of the week hopefully with all the details on.

If anybody out there is a musician, Dj artist and wants to contribute please get in touch.
Thanks John
