When they came over my place were flying west, but their programme says they should have been flying back to RAF Scampton from blackpool, so they should have been headed east. Also I thought there were 9 of them in the display team, but they were in 2 five plane V's when they went overhead.

They always take a spare Hawk.

Yeah it was 5 of them in an arrow shape over Stannington and Loxley Valley (we overlook it).

Definitely the red arrows as my nan's 2nd home is situated close to their base so we seem them a lot when we go over.

Where was I.....disappointed.....I've got very much into the Red Arrows since I saw them in Margate in June. Saw them briefly just over a week ago as they flew over Broadstairs (Kent) on their way to the Eastbourne Air Show. Saw a single Arrow first and explained to my disabled son and about 15 mins later the diamond nine flew over. Even that little glimpse was fabulous. Am sad I missed them yesterday....was in Holmfirth. :(

btw.....the pilot of the 10th Arrow is the Officer who gives the commentry about the manoeuvres to the crowd....it is common that this pilot will either travel alone first (as in Margate and Eastbourne) so that he is there when the diamond nine arrive. If they are doing a show further afield they will all travel together, hence the 2 V formations.:D
