View Full Version : State of women's toilets at Sheffield station.
foxydebs 27-08-2007, 11:01 Was at sheffield station yesterday and when i went into the toilets it looked disgusting and dirty. There was toilet paper strewn all over, black marks all over floor that looked like dried shoe prints, what looked like urine on the floor near one of the toilets and water all over floor near the sink, there was that much water it was like a paddling pool. I always judge a place by how clean its toilets are and these were not very clean at all. In my view the toilets are the place in a building that carry the most germs and what impression does that give of a place when it looks like they can not be bothered to keep the toilets clean. Are they always this dirty or was this a one off and is it just the womens toilets that are dirty or are the mens as bad.
Grim Reaper 27-08-2007, 11:07 If its the railway station then yes, they've always been that bad. :gag:
Ginger_Kitty 27-08-2007, 11:09 I agree, almost every time i used them they were as you describe, usually with at least one toilet out of order and one of the others with no lock etc etc...
Sadly there's very rarely anyone around to tell about it
...and is it just the womens toilets that are dirty or are the mens as bad.
As a general rule, men wouldn't care, or even notice, what sort of state the loos were in. Then again if we're only going for a pee, we don't have to actually touch anything - score one for peeing standing up.
Pauline BHG 27-08-2007, 11:30 If you're referring to the new toilets at the front of the station, they've always been ok when i've used them. I've rarely used the other ones on the platforms, so can't remember really what they were like. Unfortunately, sometimes, if you gotta go, you gotta go !!
You would have thought that when Sheffield Midland Station got it's 7 Million pound re-ferb thats some new toliets would have been on the list:o but no
All the toilets on the concourse are a brand new facility, and the existing ones on the platforms got refurbished, however it didn't take long for them to get vandalised.

It's the filthy general public who make them as they are.

No not a one off. I am also amazed that there are not more toilets. I was in Barnsley Interchange and there were loads of toilets with someone checking them out and cleaning. It was a much nicer environment.
There are only three cubicles for what is a busy mainline station it's disgusting.
They've never seemed too bad when I've used them, except once when I went in one of the cubicles and the toilet was full of blood. Nice :gag:
Other than that one time though, they've been fine.

The mens are as bad too. I usually wait until on the train as they are so disgusting.
hillsbro 27-08-2007, 14:27 The ones at the front of the station are usually OK, and the ones on Platform 6/8 not bad. Those on Platform 2/5 are the worst - when they modernised the station they apparently forgot these loos. The cleaners are supposed to sign a sheet every hour to confirm that the toilets have been inspected. Last year I saw a cleaner go into the Platform 6 gents at 8-55 am, and come out literally fifteen seconds later. The sheet had been signed for 9 am and 10 am...
foxydebs 27-08-2007, 14:42 I did mean the ones in the main entrance, not on the platforms, the toilets were cleaner in doncaster station yesterday.

There were more than three cubicles last time I was there. Also, the toilets in Sheffield Interchange get cleaned regularly too. Not the same as the Railway Station.

The toilets on the main concours between the information desk and WH Smiths only had three cubicles available. I think the total cubicles is four but there aways seems to be one out of order. haha I use this facility every week and don't even remember how many cubicles. anyway however many there are it is not enough because I always have to queue even when I get into Sheffield at 11:48 on a Friday night.
I have not used the toilets at the Sheffield Interchange yet, maybe I will try them next week.
the mens toilets at the front of the station have always seemed fine to me
hels1977 28-08-2007, 03:59 They were okay this weekend, both Saturday and Sunday I visited them (the ones at the front) and can't complain to be honest -they've always been pretty clean and a supervisor on duty all the time.
The ones on the platform are a whole other story - grim.
kitty123 28-08-2007, 07:45 I have always found the ones at the main station near WHS ok, until Friday when i went in with my 4 year old, they stank, had toliet paper all over the floor and one was totally blocked. It was grim in there they have really gone down hill how they can claim to clean them every hour I don't know:suspect:

Toilet paper all over the floor and a blocked toilet can easily happen within an hour.
I do have to say that the gents on platform 2 do stink tho, and I have mentioned it to the station manager before now.
foxydebs 28-08-2007, 08:37 It was sunday when i was there and they werent ok then. I agree that the interchange ones always seem to be cleaner.
BasilRathbon 28-08-2007, 09:31 The women's toilets are the station are so filthy that I've started using the Gents'.
