View Full Version : More has beens to make a record
ok i'm all for helping the earthquake victims but do we really need another crap charity record from pop stars trying to get back into the charts:rolleyes:  instead of buying a crap single for a fiver when not donate the fiver then the fund gets it all......
Gotta agree here!
I gather that Sandra Bullock's offered up a million dollars? Perhaps Sir Cliff and the others involved could offer the same sort of direct assistance.
Joe
I saw on the BBC site that Ronan Keating is going to help if "they can find a studio close to where he is holidaying in Switzerland" and Sir Cliff is going to record his bit in Barbados.Don't bloody well put yourselves out boys.
Good idea Kirky, just send the fiver direct

Funny thing is that no Indian popstars went rushing into the studio to help Boscastle.
It's one rule for us...

thats a good point mate...nor did ali akbar ravsanjarni pledge any aid for the victims of the twin towers
and what about the great heatwave of 1976? Where was the African equivalent to Bob Geldof (fading popstar with a great idea to keep himself in the media spotlight - see also Lenny Henry/Comic Relief)?

For 2 reasons perhaps.
1. The US Government staged the whole thing ?
2. Is there anyone left in the world who likes the US as a nation?

steevie/d 04-01-2005, 12:46 in this day and age you would think there was some sort of early warning system in place to forcast when this sort of thing happens the indians have got 1 and the yanks have 1 the yanks saw what was happening but gave no warning when they could have given them 4 hrs notice via the satalite system they have it may have saved thousands of lives if it was in saudi arabia where all the oil is it may have been a diffrent matter i think as for donating dosh i agree with the previous posts and give direct that way they get most of the cash minus admin costs of course best regards steve..

Couldn't agree more, made a similar post somewhere expecting to get flamed, but it seems most are in agreement.Emotional blackmail I call it, only ever bought 1 Cliff record in my life (Move It) he went downhill from that point.

Very good point... no one ever seems to really run to our aid... we seem to give so much... its about time we took a little too...
We've had floods / hurricanes / train disasters / air disasters / people losing lives... ok not to the extreme of asia... but still...
A little give & take
LottieWat 04-01-2005, 18:07 Out of interest and followin the last thread, when have we ever needed ouside aid in our safe and privileged little country? I'd like to bet that if we suffered a comparable disaster those countries able to afford it would jump to our aid and even some countries/people that couldn't afford it would be jumping in to help too.
I agree with the record thing though. It's great that "pop stars" want to help but there are more effective ways than trying to palm us off with lame songs, surely?! Direct contributions are always gratefully received if they want to help.
anyone starting an appeal for the people of carlisle?
