The best digital camera for a beginner.

Recommended Posts

I cant beat them , so ive decided to join them. Just come back off holiday & everyone has one, a digital camera that is. So Im asking your advice what to buy for a newbie. I want a SIMPLE, EASY to understand digital camera. I dont want a lot of things to press :gag: or set up. Any advice ?

Depends how much you want to spend, of course. I figure as a beginner you won't want anything like a digital SLR.

My sister bought a Canon Ixus 750 for her round the world trip. It's easy to use (she's a complete digital camera novice herself) and it takes good photos. I'd recommend any of the Canon Ixus series, actually. The Casio Z series is pretty nice too.

Argos are selling a digital Hitachi Slim 7mp camera with Optical Zoom 3x, Lcd screen and format SD for £114:99 instead of £229:99.How can they afford to do this, and what is the catch ?

Possibly just that it may be an older model, so Argos re-aligning the price?

Have a look around web (eg. pixmania.com, warehouseexpress, jessops) to get an idea on prices to compare.

Still plenty of bargains in digital cameras in the shops. Does the memory card come with the camera when you buy it ?

Look, Im serious now, as Im a complete beginner with digital cameras. The camera which came top in the Daily Mail was Fujifilm Finepix F40FD £200, but Argos is selling a Hitachi Slim 7MP for £114:99 down from £229: 99. Which would you go for? (no messing about now)

I would go for the fuji since I know that decent results can be had with it and it's manufactured by a company that specialises as opposed to just a general electronics company, since I don't know the hitachi camera to compare it with

Plus I've found it for £129 + P&P which reduces the gap somewhat

Note link is not a personal recommendation for the company, just a search on froogle
