Why are Hillsborough pubs so awful? I don't mean The Barracks or The Hillsborough Hotel, but the others-lordy have I got a point or what?Has it always been the case , or like the planet in this age of global warming, are we just going through a bit of a rough patch at the moment?

Simple answer if you don't like them go somewhere else. I would imagine there are about 10000 pubs in Sheffield find one you do like.

I went down Hillsborough and by the amount of people down it can't be that bad - The new baths and the shaky are ok and can always result in a good night it's the numpties that go down thats the problem.

Yeah take away the idiots and you have a nice drinking place. Not a fan of the blue ball with chav scum that hangs in and around it.

rich66, is it fair to assume that you're older than 20?

I enjoyed plenty of great nights out in Hillsborough when I was younger but most of us move on from that in a short space of time when we get a bit of wool on our backs :)

Its safe to assume that you are older than 17 the fact that you don't like the blue ball. When I was younger the oldest punter was 18. Parkhotel isn't too bad (well its called the park now). Also that one next to the hell hole that is the gate (Is it Wadsley Bridge) thats ok as all the idiots go next door.

The pub i work in is not a hell hole,we have no trouble at all,and we do not tolerate under age drinking.

I think it used to be a lot worse in the 80s and 90s in terms of actual trouble but the pubs have been pretty grim for as long as I remember. I love the Barrack Tavern though and the Queen's Ground is alright.
