View Full Version : Member photo gallery?

I was thinking about setting up a gallery of member pictures. Would anyone out there send their picture in for public display? You might find out that you walk past each other everyday, or perhaps the person you spend your days talking to is in fact your boss. It might be quite enlighting... but would anyone join in?

I have a pic of me on my under the 'eminem pics' link on my sig. granted it's 4 yrs old but that's on purpose.

I prolly wouldn't have a more up to date one on file.

Thats just me!

Sheffield Live took a couple last night when some of us met up. He might volunteer them to be posted?

I wouldn't be ashamed of having my photo on the site... there's enough of me scattered all over t'Internet as it is, so a few more wouldn't hurt.

Take your pick: http://ruscoe.net/photos/

Count me in - I think it's a great idea.

I dont much fancy it really
not so much for me but for others - I am already known as having no shame
Two possible problems
1. People will start making assumptions about the way someone thinks, or the kind of person they are, not for what they say, but for how they look
2. Members will not always want to be forthright for fear of a smack in the mouth

- and more attractive members will have more responses than less attractive ones.....if you know what I mean.

And that will spoil what we have, perhaps

I dont know

Shut up Louise

I agree with Louise - being ugly you will all ignore me

DaBouncer

I wouldn't ignore anyone based on how they look.:D

I do however have 3 peeps on my iggy list, and never having seen what they look like it just goes to prove what I said.

There is an air of mystery and mystique with this forum. Perhaps seeing photos and meeting in person will kill it off?

I was speaking to SheffLive about this option on Thursday.

What does Geoff think to sending Sheffield Forum into a postnuke format??? There are member gallery options aswell as news features which could be quite nice for either local or global news.

For those who haven't a clue what post nuke is or what it can look like try these links

If anyone is going to make a photogallery, I highly recommend Web Album Generator - a free program which automatically builds a web page from the photos you specify. It creates the thumbnails and lets you resize the pictures and you can create a site in just moments.

I'd rather remain anonymous than have my picture spashed on the internet. I thought that was what an avatar was for to represent your personality and feelings? Maybe I'm wrong but that's also why you choose a sort of made up name too?
I visualize what people look like based on their user name and avatar, plus their postings. If I actually saw their real faces it may change the image and perception I have of them in my mind. I don't care what you think, but people do judge you based on what you look like: It's human nature.
I'm not sure if I want Sheffield to see my face either. Someone may recognise me!! :o
But you go ahead if you want. I won't look

Hey...... I thought my pc had gone into a time warp. 3 years between your post and the last one on the subject. Frightened me to death it did ,wondering what I had "done now" as someone would have asked me when they came home from work.
Found it on another one as well. Poor fox, you must be really bored at work today.:hihi:

I also think it is a brilliant idea, I have just put google to good use, and apparently Coppermine has a vBulletin bridge, so, by the looks of it, you can make use of Coppermine, I have added a couple of links for you Geoff just in case you wanted to check it out.
