Just had a quick look through the kelvin link, I remember my grandparents living there and going to stay on the weekends. Photos brought back a lot of memories.
I read it the Star tonight but I didn't think they got his name right, so I didn't think it was him. Not sure now though, I haven't got the copy to hand.:confused:

Same here ash, I heard it on the radio & it didn't say Peter Jones to I thought it was someone else.
I really enjoyed reading the Kelvin story's and the photo's brought back some memorys too. I loved the bit about Betty's shop, Does anyone know what happend to Betty after the shop closed.

i ended up as with the wrong name in the article due to martin dawes being unable to remember my name. he was introduced to me by the sub-editor at the star, john quinn, who has always known me as "pete f***"

as for betty's shop, i saw betty about three years later selling sweets on a sunday morning at the open setts market when the council were experimenting with opening on a sunday.
i always wondered if her sherbert lemons were the exact same ones from her old shop
