On the 10th of December I parked outside my place of work on Westfield Terrace near the Devonshire Quater and stuck a 2 hour ticket on my car door window as I've been doing for the last six years and went off to my favourite shop Rare and Racy on Division street . When I came back 20 mins later I was amazed to see a parking ticket stuck to my windscreen. when I read it I had been penalised for not displaying the date of the disabled badge my 73 year old mother had forgotten and left upside down, face up and NOT displayed in the well of my dash dash after I had taken her to the Northern General that morning. I immediately rang the number on the ticket and was told by a young girl to send my ticket in. I was pretty furious and tried to find the attendant but could not . Next day I saw an attendant and asked her , a middle aged blonde lady why she had not stepped 6 inches to her left and looked at the ticket stuck prominantly in my window and was told I should have stuck it on the windscreen, then I shouldn't be displaying 2 tickets. Needless to say I was not satisfied with this answer but she walked away whilst I was still talking. I eventually got a reply from Sheffield " Development , Environment and Leisure" saying the "charge would be cancelled ON THIS OCCASION " No apology or explanation for wasting my time and money though I asked for one. I've never bought into the stereo type of the parking attendant until now. Who said OVER ZEALOUS, INCOMPETENT, MEAN AND NASTY Surely not..... YES.Definitely

They tried it on with me too - stuck a ticket on my car when I was parked in Eldon Street Car Park. The problem was their machine was broken - it kept rejecting my coins (I tried about 6 different coins of my own, and also got some change from a passer by). I stuck a note in my window saying "Machine not working", the time and my place of work. When I got into the office I phoned Streetforce to tell them the meter was faulty and was told they already knew.

When I got back to the car I'd been ticketed, along with a couple of other cars.

They cancelled it though.

I think Parking Attendants do a difficult job very well.....more power to their elbows and ticket producing fingers...

just write a letter and send a photocopy of the disabled badge and they will overturn the ticket, it happepened to me ,with my father, word of warning though dont argue with the traffic warden because believe me, (i know u cannot win). they are power crazy, dont ever come accross traffic warden 81 around hillsborough. she is the real cruella devil.

I know from experience that there are a few that are a bit too quick with the tickets.
BUT .. may I just share one heartening good experience from a couple of months back.
I parked at Broad Street Car Park and nipped up the ramps to Jessops. In all honesty, I clean forgot to get a parking ticket!

On my return (15 or 20 minutes later) I knew that I had forgotten and, yes, there was the lovely envelope stuck to my windscreen.

Fair Cop, I thought. My own stupid, bloody fault. However, while I was still packing the sprog into the back of the car, up came Car Park Charlie and asked if by chance I had got a ticket and had it fallen down?

I just told him the truth and said in a moment of absent mindedness I had completely forgotten to get one.
Well! He said "Just go and get one then. I need a number to be able to cancel the ticket"

And that's what we did!
