you need a phono to scart adapter buy them from maplins or bardwells etc. it means you will have to disconnect one other scart from back of tv (or video ) when you want to use camcorder, unless your tv has phono connections usually on the side or front, these will be colour coded yellow = video, white and red = left and right sound

Depends what you want to do, i.e. record to\from which bits? There are various options.

The SCART connection format has inputs and outputs for different kinds of video and audio signals. Unfortunately, some devices only support some of these options and some cheaper SCART leads don't have all the pins connected.

The other thing that can confuse some people is that depending how you connect them up some devices will work on different TV channels, depending which route they take through the SCART leads.

Also, if you have several devices daisy chained off of 1 AV input on the TV you can't always have all the devices switched on in order to get the signal through from one end to the other as you can only have one active device per AV input.

coax wall to digi box
coax digi to dvd
coax dvd to video
coax video to tv

scart digi to tv
scart dvd to video
scart video to tv

Audio jack the digi box to the stereo (ext sockets) to listen to the digital radio stations without the tv on. (or audio jack the tv to the stereo if you want your dvds to blow your ears off)

you'll need to switch both the dvd and video on to view dvds, but it should all work.

We suffered a drop in sound volume when we tried to use a doubler to get the whole lot independent.

Edit: I don't have a camcorder, but this should probably jack into the video or the tv directly depending whether you want to record or view

The above is only one solution. There are other combinations that will work

Now to complicate things more, how do I connect a bedroom tv to all that lot ? I thought about a wireless sender but apparently they don't work with cable.

a `y` spitter inserted into the rf socket of your tv then a coax lead to the upstairs tv will take everything , video, dvd, digibox etc.
if you need any help doing all this p.m. me and i can set it all up fo you

Eh? A wireless sender works with any TV signal, as does the TV, video etc... You just need to loop the relevant cables through the sender on the way to the TV.

Hi Strix - will this combo allow you to videotape digital programmes?
After lots of faffing with our setup last year, this is the only thing we can't do....

Only through the co-ax channels, not through AV. Swap the SCART connections over between the DVD and freeview box and then you can.

Yes. But you need to tune the video to the digi box in the same fashion that you tuned a scartless tv to the video when videos first arrived on the market. Our digibox is CH9 on our video now.

And remember - the digibox is a single tuner, so you can't watch another digital channel whilst you're taping one!
