Our usual bin day is monday,as you know last monday and this one were bank holidays,it will be three weeks since our bin was emptied,we are slowly disapearing under a mountain of rubbish:(
Do the tips accept household refuse?managed to recycle the xmas wrapping paper ect, but we have bags full of ordinary rubbish, living in a flat it"s not as if we can put it in the garden either.......help.

Should be picked up tomorrow.

Onyx states on:
http://www.onyxsheffield.co.uk/ywaste_collection_bin3.asp

"There will be NO black wheeled bin collection on Monday 27th December 2004 - The black wheeled collection service will restart on BANK HOLIDAY Monday 3rd January 2005."

If you are desperate, the "Recycling Centres" (no tips anymore!) have skips for "General Waste".

They are open today at:
Beighton Road, Woodhouse
Blackstock Road, Gleadless
Manchester Road, Deepcar
Douglas Road, Shirecliffe
Greaves Road, High Green

Yeah thanks a lot I was just looking at the rubbish collected since yesterday alone blowing down the street and wondering whether there was a strike no one had told me about!

Tell me about it!

Our bin is spilling over like mad. We have so many bin bags on the floor around the sides of the bin, our garden looks like a lumpy oil-slick with a black lighthouse poking out of it.

I know the feeling Deejay makes you wonder where it all comes from doesn't it!

When we moved 2 years ago we had been on a Monday collection at our previous house form nearly 20 years and this was only changed about 8 months before we moved we were so glad because this happened every bank holiday and usually at Christmas - was P'ed off to end up back on a Monday when we moved!

Sam Miguel,

That's very descriptive!

I contrived to miss the last 'Blue Bin' collection so that's just about full. The black bin is about 1 bag short of being full - I was sorely tempted the other day to climb on top and try and jump up and down on the rubbish, but concluded that it was s stupid way to end up in A & E!

I look forward to their arrival tomorrow!

Joe

Glad I am not the only one to pause in front of their wheely bin and look at it thoughtfully......

I once had the idea of getting into my black bin and whilst holding the wall jumped up and down for a couple of satisfying minutes. It was amazing just how far I could crush the rubbish down and managed to sink a couple of feet or more. I realised I'd overdone it a bit when on attempting to get out found I was stuck as I'm not as limber as I used to be . I stood there considering my options and there didn't seem to be many apart from throwing myself sideways and tipping the bin and it's contents [me] over not a pleaasent thought. Eventually performed a human fly act and managed to drag myself up using a slight gap in the brick work and the metal hook holding my waashing line until got my foot over the lip and safely back onto the step stool, I was so relieved that no-one had spotted this till I saw my neighbour collapsed across their kitchen sink by their window laughing his head off saying it was the best entertainment he'd had all year. He claimed he had been about to come out and help me, yes and pigs might fly !!!!!

Now that's a great story - sounds like something that might happen to me.

Incidentally, I've now got so much rubbish out on our back, seagulls have now got wind of it and are arriving in their droves.

Not round here they haven't.

Ours is supposed to be emptied on a Tuesday.

Shame it hasn't been for the last 2 weeks (and it is on of those tiny 2 bags and it's full things)!!!!

Not impressed with Onyx, @all!

Erm..... it's Monday today.

It will have been 2 weeks since you were last due for collection as published by ONYX. They clearly published that there will be no collections on Monday 27th & Tuesday 28th.

OR do you mean that they missed you on 21st December as well?

My stinking bin - along with all it's peripherals - is now on the front waiting for collection tomorrow morning.

I just hope the binmen are up to date with their jabs.

I know this ;-)

I'm just not building my hopes up for a collection tomorrow as they (Onyx) will have a back-log to catch up on, which will put us back even further.

Yep.

They failed to empty our bin on the 21st!

Made much worse, due to the fact that we are stuck with one of those tiny wheelie bins, which is soon filled.

And... Before anybody asks... We have written to Onyx (repeatedly) to ask for a larger bin, with zero response!

Normally, I wouldn't give a %$£% as I'd just load it all into the car & take it to the tip myself. But I can't as the bloody thing (car) died on me just before Xmas!

I'll tell you what: if I were a refuge worker, I would be dreading work tomorrow.

Let's not blame the individual workers. They deserve every penny they get - and MUCH more. It's the system.

My road stinks and looks disgusting due to all the putrid rubbish that's been hanging around for a fortnight.

It shames me.
