View Full Version : Dumped - Channel 4
getto_sniper 21-08-2007, 19:56 anybody going to be watching this looks interesting http://www.channel4.com/lifestyle/green/trailers.html
Coming Soon…
Dumped is a television first.
Eleven unsuspecting volunteers are left marooned on one of Britain's biggest landfill sites for three weeks. Their challenge? To survive off the rubbish the rest of us have thrown out.
The participants have willingly agreed to take part in a testing eco-challenge but they don't know where. Most have assumed that they will be dropped into a pristine natural environment like the Amazonian Rain Forest or the Arctic. How will they react when they are delivered to a huge, smelly British landfill site where they are forced to make a home from other people's waste?
We Brits are a nation of greedy consumers. Most of us have some idea that we waste too much and don't recycle enough, but we tend not to think about what happens to our rubbish once it has left our homes. So, how will our volunteers cope when bought face to face with the sheer scale of the typical British landfill?
Can they turn the grime and pong of 1000 tonnes of rubbish into a precious resource? Will they manage to eek out a living? Will they be surprised at the quality of life they can carve out of unwanted waste? And will their experience make them think about their own lifestyles? Watch Dumped to find out.

More reality tosh! With a bunch of 'I want to be famous but have no talent' contestants!
Agent Orange 22-08-2007, 13:36 This programme will quite literally be RUBBISH :D

Geordie voice over: "its six o`clock and Swampy gets called into the diary room to explain why he wont eat his dead rat":hihi:

More like 'its six o'clock and Swampy has disappeared, presumably to his parents for a good feed and a warm bed. Again.", the Geordie voice continues, "the bloody hypocrite"

Don't judge a book by its cover. Tut tut.
purdyamos 22-08-2007, 22:47 I presume the contestants have all signed away their rights to sue the programme makers if they're hospitalised with food poisoning? Or is that all part of the thrill of viewing?
Agent Orange 23-08-2007, 08:08 Don't judge a book by its cover. Tut tut.
It's filmed on a tip so it is bound to rubbish (or full of)....
I'll get me coat!!
Swan_Vesta 23-08-2007, 08:53 I have a feeling that it'll be a bit like scrap heap challenge in that the producers'll hide a packet of cous cous or a tin of beans around the site for the lucky contestants to find.
getto_sniper 24-08-2007, 09:56 i bet half of them are already freecyclers
do they ave to build a shelter for all or individually you think
BasilRathbon 28-08-2007, 09:59 I'm looking forward to "Back To Mine" - a forthcoming reality show on Channel 5 where several Z list celebrities have to spend 6 weeks living down an abandoned mine shaft in Grimethorpe.
waxonwaxoff 28-08-2007, 10:12 Does anyone know when its on?
Starts next Sunday I believe....wonder what sort of coverage it will have....just an hour here or there, or live feed.....they don't say. Still it might be refreshing after this years bore of all bores Big Brother (I never thought I hear myself thinking that!!!).
Hello all,
Just thourght id say that i know Jarvis, one of the contestants personally, and he is definatley not one of those 'want fame and has no talent' kind of people. He does find the thourght of fame as interesting, but hes definatley got some talent for it! (infact he's a damn good singer-i should know, im his bassist! not to mention hes a proper genuinly nice guy.) Although i must admit that i dont know any of the other contestants, but i doubt all of them are like that either.
Dumped I reckon should be quite educational if not very interesting-and you can't deny it, it is hitting a pretty big problem that britain faces. There weren't any sandwiches or pizzas hiding for them as such, although the whole point of the show is the fact that people do throw away perfectly good food and so if they had something healthy its cause someone threw it away! anyway, sorry for the ramble but i thourght id just let you know my view. but it should be cool, so give it a watch?
Chlo x
oh and yeah they have to build a shelter for them all.....but i think they get separate rooms for each gender.

Can't they just sleep in a wheelie bin like the rest of us?
Apparently the show is a fake, which is disappointing. Due to H&S they weren't allowed to film it on a real tip and built a special 'safe' one next to a genuine one, onto which they moved suitable materials for building shelters.
Contestants also were given food as it was deemed unsafe to eat dumped food - over £400 of food was rationed between them each week.

I'm not watching it then!

Surely not another fake show!!
:rolleyes::hihi:
getto_sniper 01-09-2007, 15:01 well you cant really expect them to shut down a land fill site for three weeks it would cause a stink :hihi:
and the food is what the supermarkets are throwing away deemed unfit
the show is to highlight the need to recycle and reduce waste
and the bloody shock of some of the contestants when they don't end up there instead of the rain forest or arctic where they expected to be priceless
okka north 01-09-2007, 17:32 I'm not being conservative but, it doesn't sit right that there are a hell of a lot of people in parts of Asia who live like this everyday - get their food, clothing and shelters from tips and a pro gramme is being made for light entertainment about it.
But hey, each to their own.

getto_sniper 02-09-2007, 20:29 what about that pussy throws his pants away every day and i thought that arron was a woman till they said different
gularscute 03-09-2007, 13:37 I started to watch this programme as it sounded interesting.
After a few minutes I realised it was just Big Brother on tip. Shortly after that realisation I resigned myself to the fact that the contestants wouldn't be herded into the middle of the dump and covered in tons of refuse by a team of bulldozers so I switched off. I would advise everyone else not to switch on.
Lets face it, did you expect anything else from channel "come on, phone in the results are soooooo clllooosseeeeeee" 4?
shihtzumad 03-09-2007, 18:28 i like you thought "oh i bet this is going to be good". I switched off aswell.
getto_sniper 03-09-2007, 18:36 well for those that switched of one of them as already packed it in and left was the pussy that only wears socks and pants once then throws them away costing £200 a month what a puff

Did you see when he said that he was going to send his boxers and socks to Africa. :hihi:
I bet they can't wait for some soiled pants to arrive
Surely not another fake show!!
:rolleyes::hihi:
To be fair, they have admitted that they aren't living on a dumpit site.
KJ_VENOM 03-09-2007, 20:16 more "reality" garbage (pun not intended)
Mod note: Threads merged.
I can't believe how thick they are.:hihi:
Presenter: "from tomorrow you will have a compost toilet"
Model Woman: "that's disgusting, we'll all catch diseases and die"
Presenter: "do you know what one is?"
Model woman: " no " :rolleyes::hihi:
Does anyone know yet what Aaron is??... Im still mystified.

that arty farty bird ort to take a reality pill
who would have thought the bimbo doing something constructive well done
Reight spoilt brat that footballer. They should've kicked him out.
WallBuilder 06-09-2007, 12:51 I came across this program whilst channel hopping and managed to watch it for about half an hour. The phrase 'scraping the bottom of the barrel' comes to mind it's utter rubbish and not even entertaining in a mindless way. I didn't think for one moment that it was actually filmed on a real land fill site mostly because health and safety would of had kittens and they do seem to be supplied with a lot of stuff so not even scavenged. Did I hear correctly they've got a shower and was that a staple gun I saw one of them weilding?
The people also seemed to of been chosen very carefully so they could wind one another up and to my mind seemed rather bland and unoriginal.
Total and utter garbage and I'm not going to bother tuning in again.
gularscute 06-09-2007, 16:47 Lets face it, did you expect anything else from channel "come on, phone in the results are soooooo clllooosseeeeeee" 4?
Good point Stormy, Channel 4 stopped being interesting many, many years ago.
i very rarely watch tv and thought this had the potential to be good, but it was **** so i turned off after 10 mins
okka north 09-09-2007, 19:37 if you think about it it just serves to highlight such matters
After making a comment on the programme - thought I should at least watch it once or twice. Reminded me of why I am so careful about what I buy and what I put in my bin.
That guy who replaces his undies each day was a waster and it was offensive that he was so wasteful.
