Do other cat owners get the constant pestering all afternoon for meat?
Mine get fed at 5pm or soon afterwards and it's always been this way, yet if you are at home they spend all afternoon snaking round you, shoving their bums in your face, mewing, sitting on the computer, chewing your shoes etc until they get fed - at the usual time. They have been doing this since 2pm today...
You get the same if you get up for a wee at 4am, cats running under your feet when you're sat on the toilet, all tired and disorientated and grumpy...
Oh yes- that's part of the design specification sir.
4am is the prime time most cats are active - those that have access to a cat flap often disappear around that time to hunt. Indoor cats are more noticeable (and vocal) about thier intentions and will try all kinds of tricks to get your attention. Our barmy bengal Alfie is a past-master at launching himself from the top of the wardrobe onto the sleeping forms below, in order to wake us all up and demand to be fed. I dont fall for it but the other half has been known to give him (which explains why the barmy one still tries it on every night).
My lot have learned that I have a spare pillow and the clothing that I took off before getting in bed to hand when I'm in bed, and if they start the 'let's wake the humans to get attention and food' thing they'll get things (all soft and not harmful) thrown at them!
I have one sat on my shoulder now - I feel like a pirate (arghhhh me hearties! ;) ).

Spangle has took to mithering up at the same time every night, but not for food, it's for her tummy tickling! And it has to be by her dad, I'm not good enough! You wouldn't believe how much she can go on til she gets her own way.
Half past five. They've finished their tea. Are they still remotely interested in me?
No.
