You have the ones in the travel information centre at the bus station.

The Shoppers Rest cafe have some,

The co-op do have some and you can still use them I believe.

Any of the public houses should let you use theirs, Shakey, legends, Rawson Spring etc.

Morrisons have some.

and the space age one on Holme Lane but I don't like it.

The co-op doesn't allow you to use the ones in the cafe unless you buy something, and even then you have to shout so they will unlock the toilet for you. It is quite unacceptable that there are no supervised toilets in Hillsboro- not everyone can make the trip to morrisons or the bus station - it's a scandal!

When we're out we walk into the nearest pub. Hubby pretends to sit while I visit (or vice versa) then we just leave.
No one bats an eye on the continent about toilet use as long as you respect them.

SheShe, I think your attidude is wrong and if it were my pub you chose to visit to do that, then you would get a few choice words from me. Would you let me go the toilet if I turned up at your door? I would promise to respect it.
IMO it is unaccepetable for people to just use toilets without purchasing anything in establishments such as pubs & shops etc.

The pub/store owner has had to invest in the business, pay rates and staff etc.....then is expected to provide public conveniences for free. It's laughable.

Yes, there should be more public toilets of good standard, but they should be funded by the council out of tax payers money.

Last I heard pubs couldn't refuse to let you use their facilities.

Okay I agree, the problem with hillsborough is where to put them? There is nowhere. The precinct is privately owned and they won't have toilets built in there.

It would be nice if shops had facilities but they don't just like in town. If you go to town where do you pee?

If the landlord owns the building he can refuse anything and anyone he wants......

Hows this for an idea?

"East Hampshire began to pioneer a scheme known as "private provision", which means public houses, restaurants or churches agree to provide toilets for the general public in return for an annual sum from the council. "

and the landlord usually doesn't own the building he manages it and its usually leased by a brewery, plus its good for the profile of the business to be seen as welcoming.

TBH, that isn't a bad idea foxy.

In my work capacity for HONF this is a burning issue and one that crops up at every meeting I attend. Hillsborough needs some facilities and especially disabled access and baby change.

But I ask the question where would YOU put them?

in skeggness they have toilets but you have to pay 20p, perhaps some could be built near where the space age toilet is on holme lane! but sumthing should be done really in this day and age !!

I think the old toilet block in the park (up near the Park Hotel) is still standing isn't it? Not ideally situated, but it would be a start.

Thing is Halibut, people can't/won't go to Morridogs for a piddle, so they're hardly going to go all that way are they?

I reckon a facility in the Precinct would be good. It's the ideal location IMO, lots of people in there all day every day.

OK there's the one in the Caff opposite Wilko's but you have to buy something to be able to use the Customer facilities, so you go to the Loo, buy a coffee, drink it, then if you're anything like me, once you've drunk the coffee you need a wee again! :loopy:

There used to be a toilet in the precinct, could the old one not be revamped and extended for disabled use? (could always do away with the managers office :hihi: )

The only 'public' public loos I remember in Hillsborough, - near the bottom of Forbes road, were turned into a restaurant :P

Why don't they do away with the tiny unit (net curtain shop) at the bottom of the car park stairs, and convert that... in fact, isn't that next door to where the old loos were in the precinct?

As for the previous post that the pod-loo on Holme Lane is rarely used - tell that to the young chap I saw from the tram the other day. He was frantically searching for change whilst simultaneaously clutching his bum, and doing a merry jig! :o

I expect not, Budlover. And neither would I expect SheShe to let you in if you wanted a pint.
I would never frequent a boozer where the landlord had a go for me spending a penny in their public house without buying anything.
If the landlord/lady was kind enough to let me use the facilities i would certainly consider spending the other sort of pennies at the bar in future though.
Lets hope you never get caught short somewhere without a latrine.

I wouldn't go to SheShe's if I wanted a pint. I would go to the pub.
And then use the toilet, as a patron of said establishment, contributing to its upkeep and helping the landlord get a return on his investment and helping keep satff in a job.
Your attitude is also laughable sushi....let me go to the toilet and I might buy a drink later, maybe tomorrow....maybe never.

Toilets in pubs are for the use of people who are in there drinking and socialising. They are not public conveniences for NON-CUSTOMERS!
