When you say a new car, do you mean brand new?

I always buy cheap second hand cars because I would never ever get anything on finance, so a brand new car will have to wait until I have the cash to buy it outright.

I bought my current car off Ebay and it was a bargain.

Seriously, then the seller sold it outside ebay - typical :gag: theres a place up loxley valley that specialises in big american cars and campers, if you head out for dam flask reservoir and take the left downhill before you get to the dam then take the first right dont turn off follow all way to bottom and there is a bridge over the river cross that and look on your right, loads of nice motors down there ming. think he has a web site somewhere :)

I think the most important thing is to (after you have sorted out your budget, finance, the sort of car which you need etc) is to take someone with you who is very sensible and not going to get too carried away with the fun of it!

It is a nightmare process though probably no matter what your budget is. I think you need to discuss it all with someone who is objective.

Don't forget that car dealers can be very shady about APR rates on their finance packages and that getting a personal loan may be better on the interest rates (have a look at money.supermarket.co.uk for a guide).

Remember, you can always walk away from the deal and that there will always be another car!! Car dealers will want to pressure you in to signing on the bottom line there and then so be careful!!
