Robbo, please sign a decent midfielder, now!!Our midfield just isn't good enough, with no creativity at all. This has been the case since Michael Brown left around 3 years ago.
Leigertwood is just terrible,Monty is a good grafter, beaking up play, man marking and will battle all day etc..but we are crying out for a good quality attacking playmaker in the middle of the park.Tonge is inconsistent, and sometimes anonymous in the middle. If we can get a good player in to supply Beattie & Sharp with good service, they will score the goals.I would also try and sign or loan a quick left winger as this is still a problem area.Webber or A.Quinn are not the answer,Carney maybe,he looks decent.
Any ideas who could fit the bill in midfield? Danny Murphy(loan),Lee Hendrie(when fit)?

I would like Murphy & Stelios to come to the lane.According to story on the chip butty site,Robbo is looking to bring in a midfielder.

1 midfielder will not do the trick, 3 are needed otherwise who will this lone mid-fielder pass the ball to other than the 2 forwards.

If we get a good quality midfielder, who has pace & can pass ,we have enough midfielders to back up that player,Carney played well in the 2nd half against Chesterfield his crosses were real quality, with Tonge, both Quinns & Gillespie we should be fine with what we have,I would want at least 1 midfielder & a center half for back up in case Morgs get's injured.

I agree Tosh.Robbo, one of the best midfield players in the last 25 years, must be pulling his hair out watching our present centre midfielders. They can't pass, shoot on target,or make anything happen.Tonge is a good player on his day,but he only plays for 10 mins a game, with no consistency.Alan Quinn seems to have dropped off over the last few months, but he hasn't played much really.I would be looking for at least 1,if not 2 central midfielders,a left winger and possibly another centre-half.I would let Webber,Leigertwood,Nade, and maybe Bromby go.
It will be interesting to see what happens when hulse is fit?

I agree, theres been little consitency since Brown left for Spurs. I think United are limited, there never seems to be many big buys- Davis aside there hasnt been many outstanding signings in the past few seasons, and part of the fact was that Warnock didnt let them play. I never saw much of Ahmed Fathi.
Give Robson time, ill sure he'll come out with a gem.

Robbo say's he can't wait for Hulse to be fit & get playing ,so it's certain he won't be going anywhere,Hulse & Beattie would be a good combination.

The centre midfielder at Plymouth,David Norris who we were rumoured to be after,is by all accounts a good player. He's a leader, box to box, scores goals and is their best player,he's a possibility maybe for £600,000.Chris Eagles from Man Utd on loan for season maybe?Danny Murphy on loan?
I have a feeling he will sell Hulse to Wigan or somewhere for 2 or 3 million when he's fit again, and play Beattie and Sharp as front 2,with Stead,Webber,Shelton and Horsefield in reserve.
I do think Robbo will do well in the long run,but i just don't think our midfield is good enough at the moment compared with such as Charlton,West Brom,Watford etc.

I openly questioned the wisdom of spending £6.5million on strikers (though I am happy with the signing of Sharp) when we clearly needed, and still need, a creative midfielder.

I think Robson will pick someone up though. He seems to know he needs one and in fairness to him he has chased a few.

There has been an agreement with Bolton, but not with the player yet. When Robson was asked about Stelios on the first 'Football Heaven' of the season the other Monday, he was 'non-commital'.

I think if he comes he'll be a cracking player for us.

Don't hold your breath lad. Let's just get a couple of wins to steady the ship.

"Slowly slowly, catchy monkey." As my uncle used to say.

Mind you, a wiser one quoted Windsor Davies from "It Ain't Half Hot Mum", and said,

"Oh dear, what a shame, never mind."

You have one of your wishes..Nade went to Hearts for 400,000 quid

Robbo's idea of a midfield player is somebody who can play run from box to box for 90 minutes and play a square pass. Creativity was never his strong point at WBA - according to Baggie pals it was hoof it from 30 yards up to the big lad in the box and then hope for the best.

I've spoken to a couple of 'boro fans and they said Robbo goes for the older, more experienced & skillfull, but less pacy type of player, and generally less width to the play.We are not creating enough from the middle of the park and i presume he's been trying to address this, but the type of players he is targetting from the prem will not drop to the ccc. They are greedy and quite willing to play in the reserves or sit in the stand every week and pick up their £40,000 a week or whatever!!
I think we will turn it around in a few more games, but a top 6 finish is looking unlikely with the present squad,to be honest. My main concerns are obviously the central midfield area, general lack of pace in the team, and schoolboy defending at the back (Colchester & Scunthorpe).
Realistically,we need at least 1 central midfielder,a left winger(eddie lewis gone to fulham),a right winger(eagles?),and maybe another centre half.Apart from loans,we are snookered now until january, and it maybe too late by then,if we are way behind the leading pack.

why would blades need a midfielder, they bypass the midfield and play the long ball anyway:hihi::hihi::hihi:

Its 2 good wingers we need. I dont know why all blades fans slag off tonge and montgomery. Gillespie isnt up2 it. He scored a good goal last season but apart from that did nothing. As for the Left wing Armstrong is too defensive and Quinn Is to slow abit similar to Gillespie. We have been linked to Routledge and KIlbane which would cement us has champions in my opinion

Kenny
Geary Morgan Killgallon Naysmith
Routledge MOntgomery Tonge Kilbane
Sharp Beattie

Must be a top two finish
