Hi there
i know i'm probably being an over-worried mummy, but this morning when i gave my cats their breakfast this morning, one of them jumped happily in while the other wasn't bothered. this is highly unusual, as the non-eating one is normally in first and cant wait to be fed. other than not eating i think he's got a bit of a temperature, although it's hard to be sure, as i dont have a thermometer. he's not spending time on his own or being grumpy, but he is the most people cat ever (he was born on someone's lap) and loves his cuddles. am i over-reacting?
Any advice will be much appreciated!
Thanks
Ellie
oh, i forgot to say they are indoor cats so haven't been fed elsewhere either.
He might be a little off colour - ours get like this sometiems then shake it off later in the day.
Check his eyes - any discharge? Can you see the 'third eyelid'? Do they look weepy?
Being a house cat, check his passings when he goes to the litter tray? And see whether he's straining - it might be constipation.
Also, check their food bowls of they've been down overnight - slugs love cat food. :) Cats don't seem to like slugs or slug-trails. :)
Hi there
Well now my other cat isn't eating. has anyone got any ideas of something that could be contagious or something?
Thanks
Ellie
Please don't shoot me down for beng obvious: you haven't changed their food have you?
no i havent although i think i will change it now!!!!

Or try tuna to get their appetite up? Hobbes gets remarkably mardy when he can't have stuff he wants, but he is just a little overspoilt! Make sure you check their poo/wee, especially the latter for any sign of pain on passing urine.
i did think about that but then i read this thing on the internet (source of all garbage) that if you feed them stuff like that they'll force it down and then probably be iller...

Yeah, they can glutton things like tuna even if feeling unwell. I'm sure they're both fine and will perhaps have a scoff later on. Probably depressed by the crappy weather like the rest of us!
I've always found that pilchards in tomato sauce can make any cat hungry!
But honestly, there are lots of little stomach bugs that aren't anything to worry about which can make cats go off their food- and since cats are nose breathers, if they get a cold they also normally stop eating whilst they can't eat and breathe at the same time.
If they're still looking bright and acting like themselves I'd give it a couple of days before worrying- if they're underweight or being ill in other ways then it's to the vets I'm afraid.
I hope they call your bluff (like Molly did with me this morning) soon.

Hi,
Could it be this sticky weather we are having? One of my cats hates the weather like this, if its warm he always eats less and seems very lathergic. Or like the advice above, if hes still behaving out of the ordinary a trip to the vets should help :)
