Hi everyone,

I´ve just moved here from Barcelona and I´d love to do some singing with a band or a duo. I´m 32, female, and my musical background is that I´m a singer-songwriter and I´ve done a fair bit of gigging and recording with a rock band and also as part of a duo performing Edith Piaf songs and French cabaret. As you can tell my tastes are fairly eclectic! I´ve had about 18 months of vocal training and I´m confident technique-wise with a powerful, melodic voice. I can´t read music though and I´m crap at harmonising so I really wouldn´t make a good backing singer! This said, I performed my French Cabaret act at the Edinburgh Festival in 2003 to critical acclaim and I´ve played at many large capacity Manchester venues including the Ritz so I´m not fazed by performing to a crowd.

Anyway, I would love to be part of a musical project, either original material or big band / jazz. I´m a reliable sort and I enjoy the creative exchange of being in a band, not to mention the laughs and the daft situations you sometimes get into. I will have my own transport as soon as I can find someone trustworthy enough to sell me a used car!

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Jo

Jo, you may wish to savour the delights of gigging in the local working mens' clubs. They're partial to bit of smooth jazz of a Sunday noon. :hihi:

Thanks Krooner,

I would gladly sing in a working men's club! Don't fancy doing it to a backing tape though, where's the fun in that? That´s why I´d like to meet some musicians. Are you a singer then?

Was a pro singer now retired. Most styles - pop; rock; big-band; jazz etc; and venues, including WMCs.
Must admit, though I still have a passion for music, I don't miss having to do it for a living.

hey- If you're interested in joining another rock band then we're looking for a singer. The music sounds like Queens of the Stoneage. If you think you'd like to try then email me- joemilnes@hotmail.co.uk
