I did some enamelling many years ago and would like to take it up again. Anyone know of any courses or where I can get a secondhand kiln from?

Anyone know of any courses or where I can get a secondhand kiln from? graemevw 19-08-2007, 16:17 HI, cant really help, but im after the same but for fusing gold/silver sheet. Im after kiln advice too, you know much about them? duckweed 19-08-2007, 18:55 Not a lot but there are a lot of websites that give advice on what kiln you need. I have used a small tabletop kiln in the past. graemevw 19-08-2007, 18:57 Ive been looking around, looks like you can get something ok for £300. Alot of money though! duckweed 20-08-2007, 13:00 I've just got a brand new one off Ebay for £100. On the silver soldering side. I was sure one of the colleges had nightclasses on jewellry making. Don't know which one though. Maybe if there was enough of us we could ask them to run it for us? graemevw 20-08-2007, 15:11 How big is it internaly? Does it come with a controler and a temp guage? What do you want to learn about jewelery making? I might be able to give you some tips. I need a kiln to try my hand at mokume gane. duckweed 20-08-2007, 15:26 You have to buy the temp controller separately. Otherwise you have to judge by eye. There's a viewing hole. I'd like to learn how to do cloisinne work. You know enamelling with wires to separate the colours. I'd like to reproduce Art Nouveau jewellry and possibly Art Deco. It's a period I'm very interested in. I used to have a couple of pieces from my Gran but they were stolen from me. |
