any tips on toilet training please?

specicifically on using puppy training pads.

We've started putting a pad down in our 3 month old labradoodle's crate, and he uses it fine over night, but during the day he waters the floor frequently and isn't showing any preference for the pad.

would it be better to lay a pad down onthe floor in an area of the kitchen?
it's easier cleaning up pads than newspaper, but he's not hitting the spot during the day.

we take him out regularly, and but there's no warning sign for immient wee-ing.

TIA

What is 'regularly'? He needs to be taken out every hour (or as close as possible), after eating, after playing (don't wait too long - he may stop mid play for a wee) as soon as he wakes up and before he goes to bed.

Also watch him really carefully - the signs are tiny but he should give a tiny sign - I had to really watch my pup to work out what her little signal was!

Other than that - I'd say do a search because there's loads of advice within the pets group on toilet training, I'm sure there is.

Good luck!

thanks Lotti.
we've put the training pad down in the kitchen floor near his crate and hey presto he's started using it, right in front of us so we could praise him at the exact moment :). and since y/day he's continued to use it:thumbsup:
I think it was a question of location.
I did search actually, but it brought up a lot of other threads as well.

Once you've got to the stage where he knows that he's doing the right thing by using the pad then you've probably got it licked (although obviously with space for off days and the like).
