...my blue bin has disappeared, along with all the others in the area! I don't even know when this happened. Anyone have any ideas about why, where they've gone, and when they'll be coming back? >.< I have a massive box full of paper - naturally, after Christmas! ^^'

Perhaps they're collecting them all back in having had a rethink over the festive period and reverting back to the old bins that don't blow around like kites on a windy day when they've been emptied.

One can hope.

This happened a few weeks back near Ecclsfield . About 12 bins went missing . It sounds to me like they are after bank details etc etc . Knowledge is power or so they say .

Well said. I applaud your logic. Ecologically speaking, the 'different coloured bin' idea is wearing a bit thin with the general public.

My back garden is so small, I can't fit them all round the back and they look ugly.

I still take my plastics to the recycling coz they havent given me a yellow bin to put them in yet..... Or a purple one for the glass.... Or a red one to put stones in.....

I really appreciate my blue bin, though - if it's there, why not use it? I can't wait for us to get ones for glass and plastic, etc - I think they have them in Rotherham...

What's the green bin for, MTheo? Garden waste? We don't see them round these parts... ^_~

yeap green bin is for garden waste and is biggest of them all. bigger than standard black bin.

its just gettin outta hand. i think they should have leafleted and asked if you wanted one. not just lump it on your doorstep. it would have saved them money as well.

i have a tiny tiny garden as sam miguel has said as well. i empty my black bin about once a fortnight if that!! i dont need 3 bins. ok i could recycle but really its not something i am that bothered about. and i dont create that much waste anyways so would take bout 3 months til blue bin was filled.

whats next? how bout a red bin .... for wood......and a yellow bin for clothing.....etc etc... soon i wont be able to get out my back door for bins!!

:D i love a good moan

In my household there is just myself and the dog, [plus a pesky field mouse but he doesn't count] and so my black bin goes out about once a month and my blue bin goes out about every three months. I'm not fanatical about recycling but if we're all encouraged to do a bit for the environment then surely that is a good thing. My neighbours and myself have a good arrangement where we know we can use each others bins if our's gets to full which is nice as well.

We get so much junk mail it's worth having the blue bin just for that! :D

I think a mixed bin for anything recyclable would work best - stick in all plastic, paper, whatever, and the Council sort it out afterwards. Would create employment and everything!

As to recycling, well, I understand not everyone is as passionate about it as I am (#^^#) but if the facilities were on your doorstep, it would seem pointless not to use them, if you created enough waste to make it worth it - which everyone probably would, if there was just one recycling bin. If you follow my meaning. ;)
