Hi, I'm researching my family tree and I wonder if anyone on here can help. Apparently one of my ancestors owned a company called Batty's Sweets, possibly in Darnall or Attercliffe. Has anyone ever heard of them? I can't find any records of it.

The Sheffield directory for 1925 lists W. Batty Ltd of 37 & 39 Wicker Lane under “Confectioners - Wholesale and Manufacturing”. William Batty’s home address was 22 Fulney Road, Nether Green. The 1901 census evidently shows the family living at 51 Hampton Road - William, then aged 20, lived with his widowed mother who owned the business at that time. Hope this is useful! :)
