A couple of weeks ago I loaded some photos onto a 2GB memory stick.
Worked fine.
Last week it went round the washing machine (40degree coloured wash) in my shirt pocket.
After a quick blast of breath to get rid of xs water it still worked.
However although when I click on the "safely remove hardware " icon in the task bar it shows as drive L I can't find it in "my computer".
It shows up in device manager which says it's working OK.
The memory stick works OK on my daughter's PC as she can access the pics.
This has happened since I installed the card reader is that coincidence?
Any suggestions?
I am sorely tempted to reformat and reinstall XP as the PCis loaded with junk.

I have uninstalled the sandisk card reader program.
"System restored" to a point just before I installed it.
Restarted the PC and lo and behold the memory stick works.
I will now reinstall the reader and see what happens.

Just had a look at your suggestion cynic.

The original drive letter for the memory stick was H.
When I installed the card reader I had removed the stick and one of the four drive letters allocated to the reader was H.
Drive H when using the reader would appear in "my computer" but when I clicked on it a "Insert disc in drive H" message appeared.
PCs eh who'd have 'em!

If it shows a drive L, but you cant see it in my computer try opening a internet explorer and in the address bar type L:/ see if that brings it up.

Having installed the memory stick (DriveH) I have just installed the "button application" for the reader.
The memory stick is still connected.
Suddenly the pc detected the reader and installed the 4 drives as I,J,K and L which it didn't do before.
Got there at b...............y last:gag:
