Howdo.
I'm moving to the Bradfield Road area of Hillsborough, and just wondering which ISP to choose from. I was thinking of using Virgin Media - but heard it's not too clever.
So, what do you lot suggest? It's a "Cable" area too I think.
You could probably use Virgin for either ADSL or cable. Your choice of ISP is going to depend on a lot of factors. Off the top of my head, things to consider are: speed, traffic limits, cost, type of contract. Somewhere like http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ has lots of useful information that may help.

Virgin are top for cable broadband, no complaints in 5 years. Now the phone and telly are a different matter!!
Most ISPs would work OK in Hillsborough, depending on whereabouts in Hillsborough you are, as you're on the Wadsley Bridge exchange so the closer you are to the Fletcher's factory at Claywheels Lane the better your connection will be cos that's where the exchange is, behind the Fletchers factory.

Virgin are top for cable broadband
Are you frigging kidding me?!
They are top for cable for one reason and one reason alone - they are the ONLY cable!!
They are a pathetically rebranded NTL:Teleworst and have the customer service to go with it. They have a complete market monopoly and I've never in my life known such shockingly poor customer service as provided by NTL, merged with Teleworst and bought by Virgin.
DO NOT CHOOSE CABLE TO BE WITH VIRGIN. Choose cable if cable is the right choice for you technologically. Otherwise stick with laser or dsl and choose from a hundred different ISPs, some of which are awful, some of which are fantastic.
