Hi everyone
I'm in need of a digital camera because I can't be bothered buying endless rolls of film and having them developed only to find half the pics are rubbish
I'm not very technically minded and want something I can point and click. My mates said I should go for a x10 optical zoom and I've just found this (http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5606485/Trail/C%24cip%3D1500006538.Photography%3EC%24cip%3D15000 06547.Digital%2Bcameras%3EFC%24Brands%3DKodak.Koda k.htm)
Has anyone any views on it...it seems like a cracking deal. Am I missing something here or should I go for it?

Sorry dennistowler but some of the reviews i have read about the Z710 give this camera a poor rating both in picture quality manufacture and performance.
And to take the best advantage of the 10x zoom you will need to use a tripod.
It has a slow switch on/start up speed of 5:5 seconds, and the pop up flash pops up when you switch the camera on. You can read more about this Here (http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/reviews/review.phtml/1981/3005/kodak-easyshare-z710-digital-camera.phtml)
Personally i would say that the Fuji-FinePix-S5700 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fuji-FinePix-S5700-Digital-Optical/dp/B000PH5IWI/ref=sr_1_2/203-0344414-5816770?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1187255629&sr=1-2) would be a be a better buy, but you you would need to buy some decent rechargeable batteries (nickel- metal hydride) and a charger.
Though it would be interesting to hear what others have to say about both the Kodak and the Fuji.
Don't know about the kodaks, but not heard a bad word about the FinePix line.

Cheers me-and-pippo!
I had one reserved for me at Argos today but after reading your review and a few others I found I've decided to wait a bit longer and do some more research. Nearly every review I've looked at mentions the dodgy pop up flash, the lack of image stability (making the x10 zoom useless) and slow speed.
It still looks good for the price so I may eventually go for it, but its always worth having a shop around first
If you're looking for this type of camera (super-zoom/prosumer), then its worth having a long look at the Canon S3IS.
It's more expensive than the Z710, but it really is worth the price.
It has 12x optical zoom, and the Image Stabilisation is brilliant.
The lens itself is top draw (after all, poor lens quality leads to poor image quality), and I'd argue that it would be worth the price of the camera alone.

Thanks, I'll have a look at it and see what reviews have been posted

I bought the Fuji as recommended by me-and-pippo and I really like it. I've only been out with it a couple of times but its easy enough for me to use and the zoom and image stabilisation are exactly what I wanted. Cheers
