This isn't about the programme Eastenders so much as the current desperate attempts the BBC are making to get people to watch it.
It seems there's a commercial for Eastenders before and after every show on the BBC, and if you go out there's no escape as there's a poster plugging the show on every billboard and bus stop.
Now I'd rather eat my own genitals than watch this dire show, yet surely anyone even vaguely interested in Eastenders is already watching it. Who's gonna think "Well, I've never watched Eastenders before, but now they've got a couple of rough-looking blonde birds in it, I'll start watching every night"?
Furthermore - what does it matter how many people watch the show? The BBC doesn't allow commercials, so it's not going to affect advertising revenue.
When you think about the amount of money the BBC have spent on plugging this rubbish, surely it's the most persuasive argument yet for abolishing the licence fee?
