This isn't about the programme Eastenders so much as the current desperate attempts the BBC are making to get people to watch it.

It seems there's a commercial for Eastenders before and after every show on the BBC, and if you go out there's no escape as there's a poster plugging the show on every billboard and bus stop.

Now I'd rather eat my own genitals than watch this dire show, yet surely anyone even vaguely interested in Eastenders is already watching it. Who's gonna think "Well, I've never watched Eastenders before, but now they've got a couple of rough-looking blonde birds in it, I'll start watching every night"?
Furthermore - what does it matter how many people watch the show? The BBC doesn't allow commercials, so it's not going to affect advertising revenue.

When you think about the amount of money the BBC have spent on plugging this rubbish, surely it's the most persuasive argument yet for abolishing the licence fee?

It amuses me quite how rough the two ladies actually look on the bus stop adverts. to whom are they considered a selling point I wonder?

Granted their a touch on the rough side but they're positively stunning compared to Pat, Pauline, Dot and Peggy :D

Erm, how to save a flagging soap... chuck a few slappers in for the eye candy element and save on writing a decent script :?

Agreed. The bizarre thing is that I used to fancy the pants off Samantha Janus when she was in Game On. What happened to her?

The amusing thing is that the adverts bear absolutely no resemblance to the programme in question. For one thing the people are happy and having fun. I think we should sue them for false advertising.

Has she had some kind of plastic surgery done? She looks really different

I'm still amazed that people, quite deliberately, plan their evenings around watching soap operas. The advertising is pointless because, as you say, anyone who wants to watch EastEnders already is.

The BBC devotes it's time advertising it's own prgrammes for 2 or 3 minutes just before a new one starts.

It's infuriating! They should sell off the space they waste between their own programmes and take their chances on the "open" market without having access to an automatic funding fee..the licence (now purely another tax).. which is well past it's sell-by date.

As for Eastenders......I'd justly earn a life ban from SF if I voiced my opinions on here.
