E-Man Groovin 29-12-2004, 08:44 Bom dia Anneke, I'm a big fan of your country (especially Lisbon) and have had many fabulous nights out in the Bairro Alto! Where u from?
From Portalegre, in the interior next to the spanish border, about 260 km from Lisbon. I'm here at the moment and am returning this week to sheffiled. ;(. I love lisbon and have been may times to the bairro alto, i'VE ALSO LLIVED IN THE aLGARVE. iT IS A WONDERFUL COUNTRY BUT THE JOB PROSPECTS UNFORTUNATELY ARE VERY SCARCE.
Hey,
My boyfriend is Portuguese, well his mother and father both moved to London with their families from Lisbon, but he was born in London.
I'll try to get him to become a member of the forum, but I can't promise anything. As far as I know there isn't a Portuguese community in Sheffield, but there are large communities in London.
If you are a fan of futebol, I am sure he would be glad to chat with you :)
There are quite a few Portugese lads working for me and I know that they know other Portugese folks in Sheffield. They go to Cubana on Trippet Lane quite a lot. There quite a mix there including Spanish, Portugese and Sheffielders alike.
Great!! What sort of jobs are they working in? I would love to get in contact and meet other Portuguese!!
Thanks
Anneke
I would love to get in contact with your boyfriend to talk about how he likes it here. My boyfriend was/ or is suppost to be comming to sheffield but is affraid because he does not speak lots of English. I would love to have someone to talk to about their experiences here to put him more at ease. He does love futebol. I am going to ask him to join the forum. Thanks
Pete1024 30-12-2004, 13:37 One of my best friends is from caldas de rainha (if i spelt it right). She's called Pat and DJ's in corporation on mondays.
Hi!!
You did spell it right. my sister studied at university there! I would love to get in contact with her. Could u let her know that I am looking for Portuguese?
Thanks
Anneke
Pete1024 03-01-2005, 15:58 My best suggestion is to goto corporation on a monday and say hello. She DJ's in the small room downstairs usually from 10pm ish till 11:30/12

Pete1024 03-01-2005, 21:38 I'm a snob, but that was below the belt minimilch, don't confuse the portugese with the spanish.
Thanks Pete
Damned right! I am English (by birth) but have lived in spain and most of my life in Portugal. There is nothing to compare.
The only similarity is the language. I love Portugal and hope to return one day. Love Sheffield to though, very kind people and willing to help.

Yo le he dado un vistazo y tus precios parecen muy razonables.
There is a Portuguese mini-market shop on Chesterfield Rd just up from Valley Road, bound to be speakers and knowledge there.
Fala portugues?
There is a Brazilian singer/DJ on Wed 25 May at the forum ... £5 www.forumsheffield.co.uk (Devonshire Street)
