From Portalegre, in the interior next to the spanish border, about 260 km from Lisbon. I'm here at the moment and am returning this week to sheffiled. ;(. I love lisbon and have been may times to the bairro alto, i'VE ALSO LLIVED IN THE aLGARVE. iT IS A WONDERFUL COUNTRY BUT THE JOB PROSPECTS UNFORTUNATELY ARE VERY SCARCE.

Hey,

My boyfriend is Portuguese, well his mother and father both moved to London with their families from Lisbon, but he was born in London.

I'll try to get him to become a member of the forum, but I can't promise anything. As far as I know there isn't a Portuguese community in Sheffield, but there are large communities in London.

If you are a fan of futebol, I am sure he would be glad to chat with you :)

There are quite a few Portugese lads working for me and I know that they know other Portugese folks in Sheffield. They go to Cubana on Trippet Lane quite a lot. There quite a mix there including Spanish, Portugese and Sheffielders alike.

I would love to get in contact with your boyfriend to talk about how he likes it here. My boyfriend was/ or is suppost to be comming to sheffield but is affraid because he does not speak lots of English. I would love to have someone to talk to about their experiences here to put him more at ease. He does love futebol. I am going to ask him to join the forum. Thanks

I'm a snob, but that was below the belt minimilch, don't confuse the portugese with the spanish.

Thanks Pete

Damned right! I am English (by birth) but have lived in spain and most of my life in Portugal. There is nothing to compare.
The only similarity is the language. I love Portugal and hope to return one day. Love Sheffield to though, very kind people and willing to help.

There is a Portuguese mini-market shop on Chesterfield Rd just up from Valley Road, bound to be speakers and knowledge there.
