I'm looking for a decent trance night in sheffield, along the lines of:
Euphoric/vocal/chilled trance e.g. Armin van buuren/tiesto/above and beyond/agnelli+nelson/ferry corsten
Ideally the sort of stuff armin plays on his weekly online radio show 'A State of Trance', discussed at www.traceaddict.com
Not: Cheesy dance (ie kingdom)
Not: Hard house / techno / rave
Not: Boring House (Layed @ gatecrasher)
I'm 20 (uni student) and used to DJ this sort of music, but cant seem to find anywhere that plays it!
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Naaah, Zogg's a bit harder than that.
Not really sure where to suggest...
To be honest you'll be hard pressed to find many pure trance nights anywhere in the country these days - its always a problem when a scene becomes massive like trance did in 99/00 that theres always a backlash - though to be honest I'd always thought of Tiesto & co as cheesy trance.. but one mans meat etc
Zogg is probably the only *regular* trance night you'll find in Sheffield - but thats definately more the harder/techno end of trance - though in the past year Darren Shambhala, Mark Sinclair and Nuw Idol have all played who are pretty much straight trance.
Looks like the best you'll get for the sort of music you decribed is the Gatecrasher one offs.

you should have gone to ten years of gatecrasher that was proper trance - how it used to be. cant think of anywhere that does it now as its dying a death - dont make em like they used to:D
Yeah, the only place for proper trance are the 'crasher nights at Gatecrasher 1 (FKA Republic). The next one isn't due up until May bank holiday though now I don't think.
There is nu-crasher, which runs monthly on wednesdays (same place) Normally with local DJs playing the small room, and the bigger DJs playing the main room (although not A-Listers) its normally JFK, Riley and Durrant, Matt Hardwick, Stevie G etc and is fairly cheap but only runs til 2am.
Other than that, I think Menzels has a quite a bit of trance going on, but just like a bar atmosphere i think.
Ahead at the Adelphi (Scott Bonds new night) every month (and NYE) has good line ups but is fairly diverse in musical syles, but normally has at least 2 or 3 'trance' DJs on...Scott Bond, Matt Hardwick, Ben Lost, Solarstone etc etc

Ahead hold nights at the adelphi in attercliffe occasionally there was one in oct/nov time and also new years eve. They are good nights with friendly crowd but it is not all trance as they have had the likes of agoria there as well. well worth going once though to see if its your thing.
Yeah, Ahead and the one off crasher nights is about your lot to be perfectly honest, me and my housemate used to take the decks down to menzels once a month and play chiled out trance/classics but we stopped it at the back end of last year.
There isn't really anywhere in sheff that does on a regular basis, it has been tried by so so many people and has always failed unfortunatly (touch/filth etc etc), its a shame but there just isn't a market for it in sheff anymore.

You'll have to keep half an eye on Hallam Union - there's a really nice guy called Stuee who has been pestering them for ages to let him put on a night like you're after - they have so far agreed to give him some space on a monday night - which will be really cool when it all moves over to the NCPM, so yup keep out an eye I reckon.
They used to have a night every saturday ran by stevie g that we all used to go and have a laugh at, it wasn't a proper night but we all got together and just had a mess around and went b2b on the decks- god knows what happened there!!!
