I'd be very cautious before clicking on a tinyurl link. liam1412 15-08-2007, 06:26 Problem with that is you can't see where you're going. I'd be very cautious before clicking on a tinyurl link. I can see what your saying but as its only a redirect that it works on you will still get the same warnings that IE and Firefox throw out about dodgy sites anyway. Nazo 15-08-2007, 06:42 I can see what your saying but as its only a redirect that it works on you will still get the same warnings that IE and Firefox throw out about dodgy sites anyway. I wouldn't want to rely entirely on those for my security. They are far from fool-proof. andco 15-08-2007, 07:13 you can also do it like >THIS< (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/index.php) That's neat. And thanks Nazo for drawing my attention to the security issues which hadnt occurred to me. Now that I am aware of the issues, I'd also have concerns about following a link to an unknown destination. In this case as it's for a posting to a closed forum by application only and as a trusted member of that group, I am confident it isnt an issue in this case. :) John 15-08-2007, 08:10 Some forum software can't handle very large URL even when doing it like wizzardofODD way because it breaks it at the wrong point if there is space in it. This handles it fine but the older version of this forum didn't. bebygirl 15-08-2007, 14:09 With 2ya.Com you can short url with no ads. andco 15-08-2007, 20:38 Not sure whether to say "Bye bye beby, beby goodbye. Bye beby, beby bye bye" or "beby come back". esme 16-08-2007, 10:47 I prefer "beby come back" I could never stand the bay city rollers :) .... and now I've got shangalang stuck in my head :( |
