i'm sorry, my sister now says she want a 64mb one >.<

now i have a new problem...
the 128mb we bought from bs comupters doesnt seem to work..
we put the card into the pci slot and plug the monitor cable in but when we switched the pc back on the monitor goes blank :( so we plug the monitor back to the original onboard graphics card and tried to disable it on bios but its already set to auto. then we went into device manager and disabled it there. after pluging the monitor onto the new card again the screen goes blank again! >.<

can someone help me please? :(

the new card is:
Colorpower Radeon 9200 SE PCI 128MB

and the pc is Dell Dimensions 2400

thanks :)

You need to go into the Bios and disable the onboard graphics on one of the settings.

its the only way to sort it if its not bust, if its not on the menu you looked at in the bios, try another. Its on there im sure ;p

If not its either a b0rked card, or the PSU aint powerful enough

Crown do these too (Clickety Click (http://www.crownitsolutions.co.uk/products.php?productId=119)).

When the monitor is plugged in to the new graphics card, does the PC manage to get through the POST sequence (ie a single beep is heard when first booting, or is there a sequence of beeps when booting)?

Do you know what the onboard graphics is? (SIS etc.)

you might need to use:

www.belarc.com/free_download.html

to find out

my boyfriend and i tried several drivers we got from websites but nothing can detect the new graphics card :(

hes thinking maybe the graphics card is broken since there isnt a manual in the box it might have been used before :( so we'r going back there tomorrow to exchange for a new one of get a refund! >.<

wish me luck! thanks!

might try ebay then.. sighz...

by the way, does anyone know how to tell a graphics card is faulty? after adding it to the pci slot does windows always detect a new hardware had been added?

thanks!

I just had a thought... PCI..

In the Bios, there is an option to have the graphics on either:

OB/AGP/PCI

That needs changing to PCI or it might be 'AGP/PCI'

Only then will it detect the new hardware. You need to take the graphics drivers off before you do the bios change though

If I'm reading this correctly you're trying to sort out a multi monitor setup.

I'm a bit hazy as to whether your motherboard has an onboard video adapter and you haven't been able to supply any details of the motherboard type and name (those details would certainly help though).

Anyways... in terms of using multiple monitor setups there's a few things to bear in mind.

1. Some combinations (well quite a few actually) won't work together so you'd be advised to double check that your mix is one that's been reported as workable on this site:
http://www.realtimesoft.com/multimon/db.asp

2. You should always set your system BIOS to boot from the PCI card first otherwise it will be ignored.

3. If you are using an on board graphics chip, changes are you'll find it won't work with an AGP card installed.. You'd need to check the manual for your motherboard but to be honest, you're as well turning off the onboard and using a proper AGP card anyways.

Final tip: .. If you find that a G450 Matrox PCI card would work then you're advised to go ebaying as you pay through the nose for many multi monitor capable PCI cards if you don't....

Oh and multi monitor cards are generally best from Nvidia and Matrox... ATI have gotten better but the Hydravision utility is truly awful... WinXP drivers seem to get past this now though.

Hope that helps.
