I have bought a Sandisk 12 in 1 Card reader and installed the driver from the enclosed CD.
As a result I couldn't access the internet thro' Firefox!
I have uninstalled the program and everything is back to normal.
Anyone come across this problem and how did you solve it?

Do you need drivers for XP? Most card readers are supported directly by the OS, not requiring additional drivers.

Thanks for that I'll give it a go.
I was following the instruction booklet which is more than a bit ambiguous as to whether or not I needed to or not.

well I tried just plugging the reader in and waited ..nothing.
I restarted the pc .....nothing.
Search for new hardware from a long list.
I hadn't a clue .
Then I reinstalled the program.
Firefox connected as normal:loopy::loopy::loopy:

You were right XP found the device and I installed the software to download my pics.
I got the reader working BUT the instructions in the booklet bear no relationship to what actually happens.
eg
Removing the card:
double click on the icon in "my computer"
select eject(not needed for 98SE orXP)
remove the card.
There is no icon in "my computer"

Windows:use the hotplug in the taskbar to stop the device before unplugging.
It then tell you how to do it and then says not needed with XP:loopy:

There is a "transferMate" monitor icon in the taskbar which does show the 4 reader drives but this is not mentioned in the instruction book.
I have found out how to use this reader by trial and error.
Why is nothing easy?????????

You should use the icon in the taskbar to stop your usb card reader before you disconnect it really, but so long as you're not in the middle of an operation when you remove it it probably won't do much harm not to.

thanks for that mrmist.
I'll now do that b4 removing the card from the reader,I was a bit worried that the card would be damaged if I just pulled it out, even after the download was complete.
ps the shortcut icon on the desk top fails to launch the program!!!

There may be a firmware upgrade for it:

Are your motherboard USB drivers up to date?
