I have a lovely little kitten who is now 10 weeks old, who goes by the name of Meeko!

We have had her for 3 weeks, and I was told by someone (who I now know gave me false info) that we weren't to worm her until she is 12 weeks old.
I have now got some worming tablets suitable for her, only to find out that she should have been wormed every 2 weeks until she is 12 weeks old, then once every 3 months thereafter. As she hasn't yet been wormed, do i just treat her once, and then start treating her every 3 months after she is 12 weeks old?
Or do I start treating her every 2 weeks for 12 weeks? I'm very confused and just wondered if anyone had any advice who may have a cat?
Cute little kitten, relost. Go by whatever it says on the instructions on the wormer you are using. It should state on the packet how frequently you need to administer the tablets. Amount to give and frequency differs from product to product and you need to weigh your litten to be sure you are giving the correct dose.
Advice from most vets on prescription wormers such as panacur and drontal is usually to worm every month up age 6 months and then every 3-4 months from then onwards.

Hi.
Kittens should be wormed from 2 weeks old.
Panacur is the best thing to buy from vets.
Its a liquid and it is given at 2, 5, 8 & 12 weeks old. The amount administered is based on their weight, and then after it is better to put them on panacur tablets/granuals. If kittens arent wormed from 2 weeks they can become very poorly very quickly. Im sure your kitten will be fine if he/she hasnt fallen ill already. I would use the stuff from the vets though relost as the stuff from pet shops is really rubbish (well thats what i think anyway)
:)
I echo what Tatty has said about the shop wormers, you can buy Panacur online too Tatty.
Kittens like puppies can absorb worms from mum, so a correct worming plan is essential.
Good luck with the kitty I am sure she will be fine if you start worming according to her age now, do not overdose though, just treat her as if she has been wormed before.

They should be wormed once a month upto 6 month and then every 3-6 months after. Milbemax available from the vets is good as its a very tiny tablet so easy to administer xx
Like Tatty says get some Panacur from your vet, I do my kittens every 3 week from being 3 weeks old until they leave at 13 weeks.
Panacur paste is fine and easy to use- be aware though that it doesnt cover all forms of tapeworm so at the first available time you'll need to start giving a tapework treatment such as drontal or milbemax (which I dont think you can buy- the milbemax I mean)
