This is a childish and pointless but totally addictive French website where you create an imaginary town, pass on the link to other people, and every time someone clicks on the link (one click per PC per day) the town grows - simple as that!

I've just made a town called Sheff Forum - let's see if we can make it one of the biggest in France! Click here

Quick update - now have 17 inhabitants and growing nicely, so keep clicking folks! Forgot to mention that it gets even more exciting (is that possible?!) - when we get to a certain number of inhabitants we can start creating jobs and transport infrastructure!

Hey, 29 inhabitants and already somebody's thrown up a shoddy-looking block of flats - how Sheffield is that?! Let's keep growing....

Now we've got an office block and some tarmac-ed roads, no doubt disintegrating into potholes as we speak!

I note our chomage is only 6%, is this a good or a bad thing?

Bad thing - it's unemployment and is now 11%! Here's where it gets good tho' - we can do something about it by clicking a different link

http://sheff.miniville.fr/ind

Only thing is it's still only one click allowed per day, so you can't add inhabitants AND create jobs (having said that tho' it does seem to let me add 2 people most days, so it's worth a try I suppose!)

Now got unemployment down to 2% (thanks to a factory which looks dangerously close to residential areas!), so for now we're safe to either

add inhabitants http://sheff.miniville.fr/

or create jobs http://sheff.miniville.fr/ind

Not long before we can start on transport (I think we need 100 inhabitants for that).

Up to #1415 in the region, 75 inhabitants and unemployment at 1%, so it's your choice:

inhabitants http://sheff.miniville.fr

jobs http://sheff.miniville.fr/ind

Now #1162 and zero unemployment so for now we can add some more people

Just been away for a few days and see we've now cracked the top 1000 - #871!

BUT we have 10% unemployment again (the other day one inhabitant moved away because he/she couldn't find a job locally!) so maybe we need to get that down again

Where does it say that?

It's great news about cracking the top 1000. The excitement's almost reached fever pitch.

Hasn't it just lol :-)

We've just lost another one tho' - if you look quick before too many other people click there's a message highlighted in red which says "an inhabitant has left sheff forum to find a job" (sorry if you speak French and didn't need a translation!)

I'm doing another one on an MB I contribute to - that one's up to about 400 inhabitants, and by the time you're that size you also have crime levels and pollution to worry about!!

Quite right, although being French I'm surprised he didn't just set his tractor on fire in the high street.

Mmm our rate of growth seems to be slowing. Nobody clicked yesterday, although chomage is only trois percent which is terrifique.

Oops, I've been neglecting our petite ville this week - been too worried about poor Britney lol!

Anyway, chomage seems to stand at 0% so the inhabitants have no doubt been beavering away without our interference :-)

Soome some reason it's cheese today, just a random thing I started with and by the end of Friday everyone was very annoyed by it.

We have a nice little town going here, no unemployment and no crime. I reckon we should drop the barriers and not let anyone else in!

The rate of expansion seems to have slowed down recently

Been forgetting to check again! We've just lost an inhabitant even tho' chomage is only 1% - must have been a choosy so-and-so! Transport is a bit low as well - don't know exactly what the 'punishment' is if this gets too low.

I have no idea how it works either...I just know that if you click on the link every day then it registers a new inhabitant...or something
